Excellent service and very friendly, English speaking staff. Very nice lobby with patio to hang out in. Good location on the edge of the old town. Rooms are basic but nice and breakfast is a bit on the odd side. I can say it is the only hotel in recent memory where they offered me a welcome drink on arrival. I would definitely stay again.

My wife and I have returned from a week end get away to Riga, Latvia. A charming city with a variety of architecture covering Scandinavian, Art Nouveau to classic german. The Occupation Museum provides an excellant and graphic overview of the struggles the Latvian people endured during the war years and the occupation of the communists. The Old Town is the place to stay for evening entertainment, international cuisine and seeing the fashionable people of the city. When staying in Riga we would highly recommend the Ainavas Hotel. The hotel was newly reconstructed from a 15th century warehouse and feautres 21 rooms, an inviting bar and a wonderful made to order breakfast. The staff are young, energetic, fluent in english and knowledgeable about the city. This was our first visit to Riga and we were pleasantly surprised by everything - we would hope to return and stay again at the Ainavas.

If staying up all night is your idea of a vacation, then by all means book at the Ainavas. It is conveniently located across a narrow street from three nightclubs with staggered closing times, and staggering departing clientele. You'll get free thumping disco music until about 5am, and a window on the hip and happening Latvians.

I stayed at the Boutique Hotel Ainavas in March, 2004. In a country where customer service isn't always a high priority (you can thank 50 yrs of communism for that), the level of customer service and friendliness at Ainavas was superb. The hotel itself is absolutely lovely, the rooms are very comfortable (down pillows and comforters, heated bath room floors, etc.), breakfast is delicious, the location is great, but the staff was just amazing.

I highly recommend Ainavas for anyone visiting Riga, especially if you'd like a bit of pampering.
