I stayed here for 3 nights and was more than happy with my stay. Other than the fact my booking agent failed to pay the hotel in advance caused issues, the hotel had done nothing wrong but it slighly soured the experience.

I had a Superior Room or Reval Class room. Each website calls it different. It is better than the standard room because my friends had standard rooms. Better bed, mattress, plasmas, safe, good air con yet the room was smaller. There are two parts to the hotel. One is the main buildings which is the 27storey building and the north wing has 6 floors which house the newer rooms and the executive suites. On the 1st two nights I had a superior room in the main building on the 24th floor. Well appointed room and a great view to boot. Smaller rooms than the new wing where I was on the last night.( I checked out for one night to stay in another city ).

Main building bathroom had bath with shower, new wing had a wet room which was very annoying because the water was never retained in the shower even though there was a step, I must have had a slanty room.

Breakfast is great. It really is! Hot buffet, cold buffet, cereals, lots of breads. There is choice for any visitor to the hotel. Also, even though the hotel is massive and the reception always seemed crammed with coach tours, breakfast is efficient and always tables to be found.

The skyline bar on the 26th floor is amazing any time of the day. During the day its very relaxed with drinks overlooking the views. By night its jammed with people from all over the city, other hotels and guests from within. Its a bar / cocktail bar and mostly the staff are making cocktails which makes for a long wait at the bar.

The hotel has a large lobby bar serving reasonably priced food. It has a casino which I dont believe is frequented by many people at all. The nightclub was closed down for renovation.

The hotel is very popular with coach groups, business travellers and everybody in between. Its also popular for stag parties which you cant miss. However, they tend to use the skyline bar as a starting point to wet the senses and head into Old Town. Also there are two lifts that can get to the 26th(bar) and 27th floor(gym). After 11pm they will not stop at any floor other than the 26th and 1st so no unsavoury carachters stopping at floors of guest rooms. Even if they did, the access hallways on every floor have keycards so they cannot get in even if they wanted to.

There are 3 separate lifts for bedrooms floor going up as high as 25 only.

Location is good, there are better but they are either dingy or too expensive. From the door of the hotel, walk around 10 minutes to old town which is no problem, your on holidays, whats the rush?

Outside the hotel there are a line of red taxis. Use these guys ONLY! At night there are queues of white taxis waiting for people to come out of the Club Essential and Jockey Club(gentemans club) about 5 minutes from the hotel. They ask you "taxi?" and if you say "no" , realising you speak English as you if you would like to be brought to "sexy ladies" for ......................................... you can imagine the rest.

Info, there is a shuttle bus from the Airport in which is 3 LAT each and a taxi costs 10 LAT for four people and leaves when you want. So if you can fit 3 or 4 in a taxi its better and faster. Taxi drivers are crazy drivers and so is the shuttle bus driver.

Free WIFI, Umbrella loan facility, bag drop after check out, business centres, 3 bars, 3 restaurants amongst other bits and pieces.

I loved Riga, I loved the hotel. I will definately go back.

I stayed at the Latvija hotel with my family for 4 days, and we were very pleased with it. Location is very central (close to the old town). The room was spotless and quite roomy, and had a wonderful view of the city. Breakfast was really good; lots of breads, cereals, teas/coffee/juices, eggs, bagels, fruits etc. The staff were really friendly and attentive.
The only problem we had was with the room key cards; you have to use the key cards to access the corridors (obviously for safety reasons) but we had severe problems with them every time we used them. Sometimes I had to swipe the card 9-10 times before the door would open! I suspect the cards were old and worn out. Also, since we had 2 rooms that were on different floors, we couldn´t visit each others rooms since the cards only allow you to enter the corridor of the floor your room is in! Extremely annoying. Luckily the rooms had telephones, otherwise keeping contact with each other would have been really difficult.
But other than that, I think I´d definitely stay there again, and would also recommend it to other travellers!

Had a great time at this Hotel.

The staff were polite and very helpful. The room was comfortable and had air conditioning which was good given the hot weather. We didn't pay for a room with a view, so we didn't get one. Given the views from the bar and gym, can only imagine what some of the views were like!

The highlights had to be the Skyline Bar and actually the breakfast. The views from the Skyline Bar were spectacular - we spent two nights there out of the 6 we spent in Riga just staring out of the window over some beers. The prices were extremely reasonable and actually less than the usual L2.50 for a beer that you would find throughout the old town.

The breakfast was also really good. I've been to many hotels and seen largely variable qualities of breakfast. It was buffet style but they cooked omelettes for example to order and the food was really fresh. I enjoyed the porridge.

The only slight drawback was that when we ordered a day trip to Rundales Palace through the concierge. We almost missed the pick up because the reception did not point us out to the tour company whilst we were waiting in the lobby nor did they make an announcement. Luckily we found the tour guide after having waiting for quite a few minutes. The trip however was very good and the concierge did help us to book it in the first place.

I and my wife and two our friend couples spent Reval Hotel Latvija three nights. Against my expections the hotel surprised all of us very positively. The shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel was very practical including the driver which was flexible to drop off some people to the nearest hotels. Guy at the reception book us to the 21th floor room with a city (riverside) view - without any wishes to do so. The room was clean and simply decorated with a flat screen tv and modern bathroom. Breakfast included a wide range of items for each tastes. The hotel is just a walking distance from the old city and is surrounded by a nice park with Orthodoxian Cathedral. Excellent place at all!

We stayed at the Reval in Riga for three nights in June.
I would highly recommend staying here. First off, do not be put off by the scale of this property (it's the biggest building in Riga) or it's corporate feel. Everything functions excellently here. All the staff is efficient and speak English. Just don't expect cheery American style over the top attentiveness, this is Eastern Europe after all.At check in we were offered an upgrade to a larger room on a high floor with views towards the river and old town Riga for an additional 10 Euro per night. We happily accepted this offer. It was well worth it. The rooms are somewhat spartan but nicely done in simple contemporary decor and have very comfortable Scandinavian style beds. The floors are in dark colored Pergo which definitely beats stinky old carpet in my estimation. Although the hotel was packed
we never had to wait long at all for one of the hotels 5 elevators.
The breakfast buffet was very good with plenty to choose from.
Cocktails excellent at the hotel's bar. Location wise I would definitely pick this hotel again over a property situated in the city's
old town. Lots to do around here. Riga's old town while very pretty is rife with working girls and arrogant drunken "Lad" types. Do they need to fly all the way here for a binge vacation?
All in all a great stay in a very beautiful and interesting city.
