Had a great time at this Hotel.

The staff were polite and very helpful. The room was comfortable and had air conditioning which was good given the hot weather. We didn't pay for a room with a view, so we didn't get one. Given the views from the bar and gym, can only imagine what some of the views were like!

The highlights had to be the Skyline Bar and actually the breakfast. The views from the Skyline Bar were spectacular - we spent two nights there out of the 6 we spent in Riga just staring out of the window over some beers. The prices were extremely reasonable and actually less than the usual L2.50 for a beer that you would find throughout the old town.

The breakfast was also really good. I've been to many hotels and seen largely variable qualities of breakfast. It was buffet style but they cooked omelettes for example to order and the food was really fresh. I enjoyed the porridge.

The only slight drawback was that when we ordered a day trip to Rundales Palace through the concierge. We almost missed the pick up because the reception did not point us out to the tour company whilst we were waiting in the lobby nor did they make an announcement. Luckily we found the tour guide after having waiting for quite a few minutes. The trip however was very good and the concierge did help us to book it in the first place.

I and my wife and two our friend couples spent Reval Hotel Latvija three nights. Against my expections the hotel surprised all of us very positively. The shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel was very practical including the driver which was flexible to drop off some people to the nearest hotels. Guy at the reception book us to the 21th floor room with a city (riverside) view - without any wishes to do so. The room was clean and simply decorated with a flat screen tv and modern bathroom. Breakfast included a wide range of items for each tastes. The hotel is just a walking distance from the old city and is surrounded by a nice park with Orthodoxian Cathedral. Excellent place at all!

We stayed at the Reval in Riga for three nights in June.
I would highly recommend staying here. First off, do not be put off by the scale of this property (it's the biggest building in Riga) or it's corporate feel. Everything functions excellently here. All the staff is efficient and speak English. Just don't expect cheery American style over the top attentiveness, this is Eastern Europe after all.At check in we were offered an upgrade to a larger room on a high floor with views towards the river and old town Riga for an additional 10 Euro per night. We happily accepted this offer. It was well worth it. The rooms are somewhat spartan but nicely done in simple contemporary decor and have very comfortable Scandinavian style beds. The floors are in dark colored Pergo which definitely beats stinky old carpet in my estimation. Although the hotel was packed
we never had to wait long at all for one of the hotels 5 elevators.
The breakfast buffet was very good with plenty to choose from.
Cocktails excellent at the hotel's bar. Location wise I would definitely pick this hotel again over a property situated in the city's
old town. Lots to do around here. Riga's old town while very pretty is rife with working girls and arrogant drunken "Lad" types. Do they need to fly all the way here for a binge vacation?
All in all a great stay in a very beautiful and interesting city.

  • Liked — The comfort of the beds and the view
  • Disliked — Hard to get the complimentary computers in the hotel lobby to function

They care for your from your arrival at Riga airport. Run half hour non stop shuttle to the hotel, check-in took less than 3 min. Being part of Estonian Reval Hotels Group the building rises next to government offices and the Orthodox Cathedral in a green zone along Elizabeta street.

Standard rooms are functional and large enough, but without posh amenities. Breakfast is plentyful and tasty, consisting of a hot buffet choice of international brand food and local specialities. Liked their fitness center on 27th floor as well as the beautiful view from Sky Bar on 26th.

Staff is friendly and efficient, except the concierge´, who did not show up at all, when we asked some questions about sightseeing and Riga Card. (better buy it in the Tourist Center in Old Town).

Walk along Elizabeta street and you will be able to admire some of the finest Art Nouveau Houses that can be seen in Europe today. A 3 min walk brings you to Liberty Statue, Opera House and the gate to Old Riga. Take tram 5 from Opera House, go 2 stations and you land on the other end of the old town, close to river Daugava.

For traditional Latvian food, go to Taverna in the Old Town or try some of the Lido bistros (e.g. 2 blocks away on Elizabeta street).

  • Liked — breakfast, shuttle bus
  • Disliked — crowded sky bar on Friday evening

Stayed at the Reval Latvija for 4 nights, on the 17th floor. Its in a perfect location, and great if you have a city view (the room has a map of the skyline, so you know what you're looking at!). With a night club, and skyline bar (open til 2am or 3am at the weekends), and a casino - we didnt hear a thing! Perfect.

The breakfast was varied, with loads of tables to choose from - by the window to watch the world go by is nice!

Reception were very helpful - they printed out our boarding passes for return flight (as business centre was closed!). They also changed up some money for us - restaurants didnt like taking large notes (100Lat notes - which is about £100). The maid's were very friendly, and did a great job in the room.

The shuttle bus was great - if a little fast at 11:45pm when we arrived! I think he must have driven at 100mph! What a start to a holiday! Make sure you check when he returns for your flight home. Reception told us 08:25 or 09:40 - but he waited until 0910 for us!!

The city is great - lots to see. You have to go up the TV tower - if only for the view (not alot else up there!). Jump on a train to Jurmala (station is Majori) - 2.5lats for 2 return tickets - its about a 30min journey. Lovely beer houses. Also get on a tram (3, 7 or 9) to the LIDO centre for a lovely litre of beer & some garlic black bread - yum!

We ate in Indian Raja - very nice (we went there twice!) - on Saturday night they have dancers! :o) We also ate in Tequila Boom (texmex) - wierd food (passion fruit in a veggie burrito!), but bloomin tasty! Definately try it if you like mexican food. They also do a "yard of tequila" to drink (6 shots on a bit of wood!).
Red Fred do nice home brew beer & tasty luch time beer snacks.
The medieval restaurant (Rozengrals) was always very busy - you have to book every night - but it was a bit too dark and dungeon-y for me!

My only problem .. 15c or 20c to use the toilet & usually the "cashier" will give you some toilet paper- I certainly spent more than a penny on this trip! ;o)

All in all - fantastic trip, didnt want to come home.
