“Great modern hotel. Nice location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

Nothing to fault. It is a business hotel. Service is good and room is clean. There is not much individual character to the hotel but it is nice. Location is a short walk to town. I recommend staying here.

Excellent position , just opposite the parks , near the freedom monument , very convenient . Buying through Otels .com the price was exceptionally good . Room was in great condition , very clean , and quiet , and of adequate size . Breakfast , a buffet , was always very good , plenty of options and staff very helpful . This is a very busy hotel , which was interesting . and taxi's were always available parked outside the hotel . The one disappoitment was that the hotel offered gyms , sauna , and a pool . What they did not say was that the facilities were only free to residents from 7am to 9am , and even then not the pool , otherwise there was a charge of 15 lats , about £18 , so be warned!

Room Tip: Avoid changing money at the airport if at all possible , the rates of exchange are dreadful . Also a...

Stayed three nights october 2012. First night could here loud noise now and then coming from upstairs. In morning called reception they said workmen were doing work, so changed me in to another room. Why they put me there? hoping I didn't say anything? Hotel lets girls in to rooms after 23:00 when it is supposed to be just residents (girls say hotel security staff take money from them). These good looking girls will fool guys thinking they give sex, all they do is drink the minibar dry and take the money and then say the money was for their time in the room and leave!

Room Tip: Better find another hotel (if I ever go there again, which I doubt)

Be careful, there are two Radisson Blu hotels close together! This one is at 55 Elizabetes and was once an InTourist hotel - but don't worry, it's now magically converted into a good place to stay, with most if not all of the facilities you'd expect at a Radisson. It's a tall building (26 floors or so) so can be easily identified when you're returning from Old Riga, past the Freedom Monument nearby.
The buffet-style breakfast is comprehensive and good, but even this large restaurant gets very crowded at peak times - so I advise going early, say before 08:30.
We only ate dinner once, lightly, in the restaurant, preferring to explore the many good restaurants nearby, including one of the LIDO chain near the other Radisson on Elisabetes - large, interesting, crowded and excellent value.
I recommend picking up a copy of the English version of Riga In Your Pocket for restaurant, cafe and other advice.
And don't miss the Art Nouveau houses off in the other direction along Elisabetes...the hotel will direct you!

Room Tip: Stay high at the front and you'll get a good view of the Freedom Monument with the old town behi...

The hotel has good, nice and clean rooms (my previous stay) and bad, old, not really clean rooms (this stay).
The atmosphere of the room is cold, old, outdated wallpaper and very uncomfortable beds. The bathroom has stains in every corner and the metal is getting oxyded.
The floor is really tired and has marks of the thousands of people that went through this room. There is a free small bottle of water in the room as if the hotel had to be forgiven for something ...

Overall, I had a good experience, my new one is really bad. I will probably look for another choice in the city.

Huge nice building, very polite and professional staff both at the reception and all F&B outlets, just a few steps from the pedestrian area.
The bar on the 26th floor, which is also a discoclub during the weekend, offers a stunning view over the city. Much more quieter is the DVine bar and restaurant on located in a separate building connected to the hotel's second floor.
A pluri awarded 6 floors SPA is probably the highlight. The SPA restaurant offers anyway a very limted choice of dishes.
The bedroom clashes with the rest of the offer. Tiny tiny tiny with a ridiculous "bathroom".

A very pleasent hotel for a couple of days in Riga.

Firstly check-in: very smooth, no issues and the front desk staff were very helpful throughout our stay.

The Room: We were on the 9th floor and rear-facing. It was fairly standard for a Radisson, although I found the bed was not particularly good and contributed to an average night's sleep. It could have benefitted from a firmer mattress. The room was clean but fairly basic. Bathroom had a shower only. Not too much noise either from within the hotel (such as doors banging/elevators etc) which was good.

I would certainly recommend visiting the Skyline bar on the 26th floor, it has superb views over the whole city and the prices are not too extortionate considering the location! As others have said, seats by the window are expectedly coveted - go around 4:30ish and you will probably manage to get one!

Food was OK - we ate from the dinner buffet service which was 13Ls each. Food was good although the hot dishes were a bit on the cool side, but it had a good selection for the price. Can't comment on the A La Carte or the D'Vine restaurant as we didn't opt for those.

Breakfast was also a buffet and was OK, coffee could have been better, and the full english items were a bit limited, a good touch was "made to order" omlettes and pancakes which were made freshly there and then with your choice of toppings.

Location - very good. We reached the old town of Riga in about 20minutes at a slow pace, and the bus/train stations are about 15minutes walk away (or about 2mins in a cab at 6am, but for 5Ls!).

Overall a very nice stay, and I would certainly think about staying again when in Riga.

Room Tip: Try to aim for higher rooms to avoid noise from the street/lobby etc.
