“Good Value, Excellent Location, Somewhat Noisy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

I stayed here in September 2012. The location is excellent since it is located right in the heart of the Old Town literally right next to the St. Peter's Church and St. John's Church.

The room was huge and spacious but since it was late November it could be a little bit chilly and there was no way to turn on the heat in the room. Also, my room was on the third floor and it was very easy to hear everything from people down on the street. It was particularly bad from midnight to 4am with lots of noise and shouting but you'll just need to deal with it or get earplugs.

Overall, it was an excellent place and its also very easy to catch the airport shuttle by just taking a short walk to the Hotel Riga.

Well located. Quiet.Charming architectural mix but almost needs a GPS to find the room. Large and comfortable room. No air con. Shower is a disaster - over the bath without a non-slip mat. For an 81 year old with a hip replacement - downright dangerous. Good breakfast included in a charming art decco annex. Bed linen could be upgraded.
Just down the road is a large shopping centre with an excellent supermarket. On the other side of the shopping centre - go through the long hall and turn right - is a Japanese restuarant with delicious food at a reasonable price.

We stayed for 2 nights in August at one of the hotel’s suites. The room was big, including a kitchenette, but it looked more like an apartment rather than a suite. There were 2 separate beds with a bit uncomfortable thin mattress. In general the decoration is old fashioned.
The buffet breakfast is ok, but it is too crowded at most of the times as the hotel has many guest rooms.
Still the location is great as it is perfect for getting around the old city on foot.
We would recommend this hotel if you are planning in getting around a lot.

This hotel was right in the heart of Riga's old town. We enjoyed walking to the historical and touristic sites, the restaurants and the fun night life. The room was basic but very clean and comfortable and the view from our window of the church was beautiful. We enjoyed the breakfast offered by the hotel (though on weekends it was sometimes hard to find a seat) and we LOVED the free wifi. The password/username was given to us right at check in-loved that!

Overall, this was a great find in Riga-good price, good rooms, great location!

Great hotel with the best location for exploring the city. Great ikea-orientated rooms and an excellent breakfast. Don't bother with the hotel bar though...pop outdoors to Raucis on Jena Seta which is a locals pub with cheaper prices.

Location is perfect for this hotel. Right in the heart of the old town and only 10/15 minute walk from the bus stop from the airport. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is a maze of corridors to find your room....but when I did it was HUGE!!! Basic, but that was fine, clean and tidy with a good sized bathroom too. There isn't a fridge or aircon.

The one thing that lets the hotel down is how they serve the breakfast, my advice would be don't bother with it, there is plenty available but it is laid out in a long corridor only wide enough for one/two people and you struggle to get passed people and the waiting staff as they clear plates etc. There are small rooms off the corridor with some tables but not nearly enough for the number of guests at the hotel. You often have a very long wait to get a seat and have to join other people if there is space. As a solo traveller on one occasion I was mid meal and went to get a coffee refill but when I got back to the table my plate had been pushed to one side and the table taken over, another time I had to sit outside in the rain and on another occasion I simply gave up!

Room Tip: Go for room only don't bother with the farce of breakfast!!

The hotel is located in historical complex of buildings in the very centre of Old Town, just a few steps from the big shopping centre „Galleria Riga“ and the main sights. It is neither posh nor very modern, but very cosy. The rooms are 4* huge and very convenient. The cleaning and reception services are efficient. The room is fully equipped with everything you may need – 2 tables, 3 chairs, a big closet, a wide bed and a few different sources of light (only the fridge is lacking). They offer paid parking for 12 eur/day.

Buffet reakfast is very rich and tasty (2 different salads, 2 kinds of hot sausages - just to give you an idea). Generally, it balances between three and four stars. We also tried Kolonna Riga, which belongs to the same chain and is located just a quarter away, but we must say that in Konventa the breakfast choice was way better, room was bigger, and bathroom of much higher standart.

When we are not in a mood of experimenting and/or wasting money, Konventa is the safest choice.

Room Tip: If possible, ask for the room 210, it has a perfect street view.
