Owner description: E.a.t. Riga - No, its not just about food! Experience Alternative Tours! A great way to see Riga from a local perspective. Visit various districts of Riga away from the main tourist sites - Old markets, local food tasting, run down harbours, industrial areas, artist districts and vintage boutique shops. See the contrast between old workers quarters with wooden houses and upper class Art Nouveau areas. Experience the real Riga on foot or by bike. We also offer Bicycle rental. Discover the real Riga.

“Great walking tour of Riga”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013 via mobile

I booked a walking tour of Riga for 8 friends who were going on a Baltic cruise. James arranged everything and communicated clearly with me. We were metas promised near the ship by Arturs who gave us a great tour - plenty of interesting information with a hip young person's perspective.

“Perfect way to discover Riga”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

We had a prearranged walking tour through Riga (Moscow and Art Nouveau District) with James. He brought us to places you would normally not see during a "regular" walking tour. James was very organized, friendly and knowledgeable. I second other reviews here on the website and would definitely book again!

“Highly recommended!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

This is the perfect guided tour for those who don't like guded tours!
We had a wonderful afternoon with Marcus, and it was more like being with a friend than being with a guide as we were only two couples. He picked us up at our hotel, and we walked through Riga on a Beer and Balsam tour. Marcus had so much to tell and it was interesting to be able to ask and discuss so many other topics too. We were impressed with his general knowledge. If we ever come to Riga again, we will definitely contact you for another tour.

“Husky Sledding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

A group of friends and I booked the Husky Dog Sledding tour in December and, after being thoroughly terrified as the man in charge listed all the injuries you can fall afoul of falling off a sled, we had one of the coolest experiences of our lives. We paid 280 lats for the eight of us and that got us an English speaking guide, transport there, an exhilarating ride on the sleds, and lovely hot tea and some time with the dogs afterwards. While we didn't meet James, he was incredibly helpful in organising the trip via email and making it as easy as possible for us, and Artis did a great job at translating for us during the day. We had an amazing day out in the Latvian forests (what could be better than playing with husky puppies!?) and I definitely recommend E.A.T. Riga tours!

“Walking Tour of Historic Old Town and nearby”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

My friend and I had prearranged an Old Town walking tour with James, and a family from our cruise ship joined us. James was very personable, knowledgeable, and ready to tailor the tour to our needs. Because he lived in Riga, and had made the effort to learn the language, he was able to take us to places where non-Latvian-speakers might have had difficulty understanding local information. He demonstrated knowledge of the historic old town, local markets, and other areas, including a Holocaust Memorial. We were able to stop at a local pastry shop/cafe to buy coffee and pastries. James' congenial manner, sense of humour, and ability to answer our questions, made our tour most enjoyable. This tour was about 3 hours in duration, which likely could be somewhat adjusted to the needs of the participants. I highly recommend him and his tours. / Clair S., Toronto, Canada
