“Recommended for a beautiful view of Riga”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2014

If you just want a very beautiful view of Riga and maybe also make some beautiful pictures, this place is awesome. There isn't anything else to do really, but it's not expensive and like I said, the view is great. Recommended.

“Very good views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2014

If you haven't read the reviews, this would be difficult to visit, because the signage is not very good. However, if you have read the reviews, the process is quite simple.
The tower is impressive, it can be seen from most places. There is still the hammer and sickle symbol in the tiling at the top of the tower. We didn't see much information about the tower from a local perspective, eg: was it welcomed by the people etc. We have visited Warsaw where there is a similar tower, and allegedly they hated it, because it reminded them of the Soviet influence.
You visit via the front entrance, there is a glass display, and ask the lady for the tower visit - which is 4 Euros each. You take the lift to the 15th floor, and then go through the double doors and follow the signs from there, up the 2 flights of stairs. At the top, there is an excellent view of the city, and there is some information on the wall, as to some of the landmarks that can be seen, eg: national library. Would definitely recommend.

“Good views from old Soviet era building”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2014

Always like a good city view and this one affords great views of the whole of Riga and river. The building is located in a more run down part of town but felt safe walking there. As you enter buy ticket from kiosk on left. 4 Euro. Then take lift on far right to 15 floor. Then walk up a few flights of stairs. Open till 2200 so you can get some night shots too. Open air. Cool view of tv tower.

“Great view of Riga”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2014

We came across this viewpoint whilst researching St. Peter's Church. A reviewer had recommended it as it was less busy and less expensive than the church tower, but also offered amazing views of the city.

The science academy is located near the train station and is easily visible due to its sheer size. The building looks unwelcoming from the outside but a small sign outside assured us we were in the right place. The man at the reception desk had a sign in English explaining that we should take the lift to the 15th floor, then walk up 2 more floors in order to reach the viewing platform. The cost was €4 per person.

It was a glorious sunny day when we visited, but it was very windy at the top!

I would recommend a visit here as it is a different experience to the typical church towers found in most European cities. It was interesting to see this Soviet style building and well worth a visit for the panoramic views of the city.

“Good panorama of Rīga”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2014

I have been there twice and both times enjoyed it. I recommend people go there because that is the closest place to centre where you can get such a good view of Riga. Nevertheless the building itself is a monument of history. Yes, the entrance and getting up there is a bit "old school" but the view compensates it. Also I don't think they accept credit cards.
