“Very nice place to stay in Riga”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2012

We had booked the first nights of our baltic trip in Riga Hotel Edvards. Immediately we felt so well servved that we booked more nights for later stays. The hotel is in ideal location, short walk to the city center. Room was comfortable and clean, breakfast excellent (coffee great!). But the most important in the Edvards hotel is the staff - so friendly and warm and always in a way helpful that is much more than you normally get. In this place you can feel a bit like "coming home". Big compliment! We recommend this hotel and certainly will choose it for our next stay.

Small hotel on a good location, comfortable and clean rooms, tasty breakfast, very friendly staff.
No dark curtains and thin walls. It's a bit noisy because you can hear other people talking in their room and on the corridor and also when they enter the room.

Great hotel. Not that expensive. Nice location just outside the busy Old Town but with much nicer restaurants and cafes, I think.
Edvards is not fancy but very clean and newly renovated. The breakfast has what you need. Maybe not that many sausages and bacon, but really, do you need that? The personal seems to make scrambled eggs on request. At least if there are not too many guests.
Have a nice stay!

Cozy small hotel. Good location. 10 min walk from the Old Town. An enormous shopping arcade (8 floors!) only two blocks away. Also the famous Art Noveu block 5 min walk. Our room was quite small but the view (5th floor) was excellent. The white nights would require a more effective blackout curtain, so take a sleep mask with you. Very clean room with nice furniture. 30+ TV channels, however only two in english. No fridge in the room. Breakfast is served in a café corner of the lobby, cozy. The selection is not enormous, but of very good quality. The lightly smoked pork is very delicious. Very helpful and friendly staff. Car park in the hotel yard (you need to pay for that). We could keep our bicycles locked in a storage room.

I'll definitely recommend this small hotel close to the Riga's old town. The rooms were simple but very clean. All the staff were really nice and helpful. They helped us to book restaurants, rent a car, give all guidance we needed. The superb service made our stay in Riga memorable!

Small but very nice hotel in the heart oh the city. Situated in 10-minutes walk from the Old City in very nice and quiet district. Nearby the hotel you will find a perfect small cafe, restaurants, parking, The National Opera and The National Museum of Art. The hotel is situated in a district with amazing buildings full of history and interesting architecture.
The personnel is very kind and friendly, rooms are clean, big and light. Breakfast is very good.
Highly recommended for couples, families and solo travellers.

My wife and I stayed here (room 403) for a week and were delighted with our choice. Located in the Art Nouveau district, this small hotel is clean, comfortable and served by friendly and very helpful staff. Other plus points: street noise is minimal, breakfast is good and parking is available if required. Highly rated restaurants, Stock Pot and Fazenda Bazars are 2 minutes walk away. Overall, this is a really good hotel and represents excellent value .

It's a 10 minute walk to the old town and the opera (strongly recommended). If you're interested in the opera it's worth booking online in advance as the tickets can sell out quickly.

For things to do we'd recommend: the Opera, the Occupation museum, House of Blackheads, St Peter's Church viewing point, the Yellow Suitcase (free) guided tour, hiring a row boat on the canal and the Art Nouveau district. If the weather is good, the Open-Air Ethnographic Museum is worth a day trip (30 mins by bus) as is Sigulda and the walk to Turaida Castle via the cable car traverse and the Gutmanis Cave (directions etc from tourist info office at House of Blackheads).

The hotel will arrange a transfer from the airport for 10 Lats which is the most convenient option as the 22 airport bus doesn't stop nearby. Returning to the airport can be done more cheaply (0.60 Lat) using no 241 minibus which stops 2/3 minutes away on Basnicas St.
