I was vsiting Riga on a Fam Trip with other clients of an agency. We all stayed in Hotel Elizabete and were delighted to do so. Everything is superb starting with the extremely friendly, courteous and professional check-in staff. They all speak perfect English (my Latvian is very limited!) and nothing is too much trouble for them to help with. The rooms are large and very comtemporary. The beds are huge with the most superb white linen and a very thick matress topper - just like sleeping on marshmallow. There are facilties for making tea and coffee and I needed skimmed milk which the staff at the bar were more than happy to find for me. The whole experience was peaceful, relaxing and most defintiely a place to return to. The buffet breakfast would satisfy the needs of even the most fussy palate so if you have an allergy you will be very well catered for. Put this hotel in Riga on your list of "must go to" - you will be happy you did!!

* the location of the hotel is good - just cross the park and you're in the center. beside that there's nothing special about the hotel.
* rooms are tiny; not very well suited to work
* the best thing is probably the lobby-bar, btw. the courtyard terrace
* all the interior is new but not very well designed when you look at the details. reception hall feels like a bus stop
* breakfast is ok but nothing extraordinary
* what was annoying: when I checked in, they only had tiny tiny tiny twin beds available - sleeping was NOT very comfortable

to sum up: the hotel is OK, but far away of being a design hotel or a great hotel

Thoroughly enjoyed our time in Riga and the hotel Reval Elizabete. The location is great and the staff are excellent and couldn't be more helpful. The breakfast is very good and the courtyard nice to relax in. Although the hotel is brand new the only (very slight) niggles would be:
1. The glass sliding door to the bathroom looks lovely but doesn't offer any privacy for the person using the bathroom. Not the nicest thing for anyone and certainly not if it were your first romantic trip as a couple!
2. The shower looks fab - but isn't very powerful (maybe that is because we were on the 8th floor though)
3. The sound proofing between rooms is not great. Surprising for a new hotel and we did have very noisy neighbours one night. Despite the above we would definitely stay at the hotel if we return to Riga and would recommend to anyone.

Do go to the sister hotel and have a drink at the 26th floor Skyline bar. Moody staff but well worth it for the amazing views and don't do what we did and leave the Museum of Occupation to the end then not have enough time to do it properly. Allow 2 hrs at least (one of the few museums with descriptions in English). One of the best museums we have ever been to!

We have travelled in northern and eastern Europe quite a bit and did find the restaurants in Riga a bit odd. However, once we got used to the fact that they were not like ones in cities such as Sofia and Krakow we were fine. Also, it was very quiet (blissfully few stag parties) so the restaurants were probably just suffering from fewer numbers so less atmosphere.
