New designer boutique hotel which has a decent (but small) bar and interesting layout with an open courtyard effect in the middle. Rooms would suit guys better- ultra modern, they look modern and interesting with dark wood and a few touches of red, masculine and functional rather than comfortable. ok if you spend little time in there- altho for fans of modern and minimalist hotels- this may suit you. I was there for business and wonder what it would be like with 2 people in a room... a bit cramped?
The location is more or less ok but in the more modern area and about 15 mins walk to the edge of the old town- but having afterwards stayed at a (much better) hotel actually in the old town- then I would say stay in the old town if you can and not over this side. The old town is the place to be- more atmosphere (but more thieves- so watch out) and more bars and restaurants on your doorstep.
Price for a 4 star is good.
Service is pretty bad- to put it mildly... nice but young, inexperienced staff. I had a variety of problems/errors whilst there and ended up pretty livid- I would compliment the manager who handled my list of complaints well but still would not go to this hotel again ...
(oh and throw in 3 hours for luggage to come through at the crazy airport - only to find mine (and many other peoples' had not made it..) and appalling airport info service for 2 days... , pickpockets who sadly seem to have a grip on the town so watch out... not a great trip- except for the next 5 star hotel I moved on to in Riga which I was very happy with....
