New designer boutique hotel which has a decent (but small) bar and interesting layout with an open courtyard effect in the middle. Rooms would suit guys better- ultra modern, they look modern and interesting with dark wood and a few touches of red, masculine and functional rather than comfortable. ok if you spend little time in there- altho for fans of modern and minimalist hotels- this may suit you. I was there for business and wonder what it would be like with 2 people in a room... a bit cramped?

The location is more or less ok but in the more modern area and about 15 mins walk to the edge of the old town- but having afterwards stayed at a (much better) hotel actually in the old town- then I would say stay in the old town if you can and not over this side. The old town is the place to be- more atmosphere (but more thieves- so watch out) and more bars and restaurants on your doorstep.

Price for a 4 star is good.

Service is pretty bad- to put it mildly... nice but young, inexperienced staff. I had a variety of problems/errors whilst there and ended up pretty livid- I would compliment the manager who handled my list of complaints well but still would not go to this hotel again ...

(oh and throw in 3 hours for luggage to come through at the crazy airport - only to find mine (and many other peoples' had not made it..) and appalling airport info service for 2 days... , pickpockets who sadly seem to have a grip on the town so watch out... not a great trip- except for the next 5 star hotel I moved on to in Riga which I was very happy with....

Reval Hotel Elisabete has a very convenient location, only a few minutes walking from the Old Town, the train station, and most of the sites, in front of a park. Everything is looking new, with a nice design of the lobby and the bar, and a pleasant courtyard.
If you a coming from the airport the best choice is to take the Air Baltic shuttle who stops at the Reval Hotel Latvia (about 5 minutes walking), for only 3 Lats.

The room was nice, quite large with a comfortable bed. Unfortunately there is no view at all on the back of the building. Bathroom was also nice but with something you should not find in a 4 or 5 stars hotel: liquid soap only!

The breakfast was good with a lot of choice.
The staff is kind and helpful, no problem at all.

Overall it's a good modern hotel, prices are reasonable (only 99 euros per night), but it's not at all a W hotel or a trendy hotel, it's much more a pleasant and convenient hotel.

A fantastic stay in a great hotel was sadly totally ruined by an extremely rude security guard in the basement hotel car park.
In most places in Latvia, security personnel have a very little intellect, but this man's attitude was way beyond anything I have ever experienced.
Be aware, avoid them as much as possible, and report to hotel management any problems.
There is a free underground car park for hotel guests, which can be accessed using your room key. On our way out, after 2 nights stay in this wonderful establishment, the card didn't work anymore, so after trying it quite e few times, I simply called reception. They politely replied and without any questions opened the gates. Meanwhile, security guy managed to get out of his basement office and come over to us. This is where thing got ugly. Instead of asking if he can help us or even saying hallo, he simply barked: ''if you don't have a key, you shouldn't be here! You are not allowed to be in this car park because it for hotel guests only!'' Even when we showed our key, and explained that it simply didn't work, he still refused to believe this, and without apologising, and staring at us as if he was about to kill, swiped his own key, opened gates and walked away.
I went back in to hotel and spoke to front of house/reception manager - a lady whose name I unfortunately didn't wrote down, but she was very polite, apologetic and helpful and promised to discuss this with the security. As I was explained this was a common problem, which they struggle with on a regular basis.
Someone needs to deal with this seriously, these people have to be thought a lesson, as situations like this can completely wipe all the good impressions and memories.
On the good note - Great, fresh, new hotel, fantastic breakfast, pleasant staff, very comfortable beds, high spec rooms, prime location etc.

  • Liked — Comfortable beds, great breakfast, Location
  • Disliked — Very, very rude security person.

Stayed here for 2 nights.
Excellent design hotel! Really nice furnishings, hip and friendly staff, but not really experienced it seems. Also it is understaffed I think, since several times phones went unanswered, requests took 20-30 minutes to be fixed, or were just ignored.
Still, an excellent free breakfast, free WiFi, superb location 5-10 minutes' walk from everything in the city center.
Free gym, too.
Ask for a room on the 8th floor, with hardwood floors and bathtub. Many rooms have carpet and are shower-only.
Check the Reval Hotels web site for special deals, related to concerts and happenings in Riga; we paid only 85 Euros/night, including taxes, breakfast, etc.
Enjoy!
