“weekend in Tallinn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2014

A long weekend in Tallinn based in this hotel was very good
The hotel rooms are clean comfortable and well equipped.
The staff are friendly and very helpful
The self-service breakfasts were excellent - wide choice of well prepared and presented food
Although the hotel has an air of being designed primarily for business travellers we found it to be very family-friendly with 2 infants
The only fly in the ointment was car rental. Be aware that the company 'Bestrent' have some unusual caveats in their rental agreements. These may in fact be common in Estonia but have not been encountered before even having rented cars all over Europe and North America.
The hirer cannot drink, smoke or eat in the vehicle which to be fair is not totally unreasonable although difficult with small children in the party.
Any extra insurance cover taken out, even that to reduce any excess to zero, only covers the hirer for road traffic accidents. If the wheels are 'kerbed' or the bodywork scratched or damaged in any way the hirer is responsible for the complete cost of repair and rectification. The company is extremely particular as to the time a vehicle is returned. Even minor lateness can result in a liability for a further 24hour rental charge. The clause regarding the cleanliness of the returned vehicle seems rather ambiguous and could result in cleaning charges being added to the final account.
Anyway you have been warned - check the small print!

This is our third time at the Nordic, and it will not be our last. Great staff. As an example, delivered our delayed luggage to our room at 230 in the morning. Prepared breakfast for us at 345 am for an early departure. Business rooms overlook the street. Nice view. The clanging of streetcars starts early, but is a pleasant wake up call. The 8th floor recreation centre includes a wonderful hot tub and swimming area. Lounge chairs offer breathtaking view of the Old City of Tallinn. The location is superb, with easy access to modern shopping centres, such as the Viru Keskus, right across the street, and an easy stroll into the Old City. A newly installed pedestrian traffic light at the crossing helps. The breakfast, served from 7-10 am, is absolutely amazing, with a variety that cannot be matched. Spaces can be a bit narrow, so best to be careful at the buffet. Without a doubt, a superb world-class hotel.

Dear Peeter P.

Thank you for being our regular guest. We were very pleased to read that you have been happy with the Nordic Hotel Forum services and the location. Hearing how much you enjoyed our breakfast makes us happy. We’ve put lots of efforts in it and are trying to offer guests exceptional service although the breakfast room can get busy during breakfast peak time and summer season. We thank you once again, wish you beautiful summer and expect to welcome you soon back in the Nordic Hotel Forum.

While we were initially disappointed that we could not get rooms in the Old Town due to the song festival, finding the Nordic Forum was a godsend. The staff was so cordial and knowledgeable and could answer any questions. To enumerate the things we loved about the Nordic Forum:
1) Steps from the Viru gate, and a few blocks from 'Fat Margaret' made the Nordic an easy place to enter the old town.
2) The breakfast buffet was substantial in variety, quality and availability (7-10:30 am). Add the fact that even with a packed hotel due to the music festival, there were never any lines or logjams. Extremely well done!
3) Typical hotel room, probably a bit more modern and large by European standards with a kingsize bed. The bathroom had tub/shower, and the blackout curtains were extremely important for sleeping when it's still light out at midnight.
4) 'The kids' used the pool and spa and had to return to take pictures since the view was so amazing
5) We traded the ambiance and pampering of a Three Sisters type boutique hotel, but the cost was about a third of what we have paid in the past. Once again, very nice! Thank you Nordic Hotel Forum!

Room Tip: We were on the 8th floor but did not feel any extra traffic from the pool. Being on a busy street, I...

A nice modern hotel with up-to-date furnishings. My wifi was OK. The pool/sauna combo on the top floor has a very nice view west towards the Old City. Breakfast was very good: very wide choice at the buffet, but coffee mediocre.

I was expecting that things might be cheaper in Estonia, but this was relatively expensive.

Room Tip: Face west. My room faced east, and the sun comes up early (4 AM) in Tallinn in midsummer. If you hav...

Others have mentioned the poor wireless signals in room, and while this may be true the hotel is superb and it makes me want to return to Tallinn! Superb modern & clean room, best breakfast, kind service, and all the niceties were included
Tried the sauna and pool and they were great! The location is perfect and modern! You're right next to old town, yet transportation and shopping are right outside your door! Amenities staff and hotel were terrific and so I didn't miss room internet being a bit sporadic (it works flawlessly in the well appointed lobby ! Btw they would've changed my room the following day (to be closer to a router if I wanted(but really not needed
Wish that I could return for another visit!

Dear Guest Maproot,

Thank you for your kind words regarding the services at the Nordic Hotel Forum. The management of the hotel is aware about the problems with wifi coverage and we are working on it. New wifi solution has been purchased and will be installed I couple of month and I’m sure that everybody will be happy with the strength of the wifi signal in any parts of the hotel.
Once again we want to thank you for choosing the Nordic Hotel Forum and we are looking forward to welcoming you soon at our premises.

I´ve stayed in this hotel for several times. Last time was just couple of weeks ago and I have nothing to complain. Our room was on 7th floor and it was very comfortable, spacious and spotless. Sleeping quality is very good: very comfy beds and pillows, blind curtains (I don´t know the official name for those. But curtains that keep the light out also in light summer nights). And it was completely silent. There are no drunken people around this hotel. Breakfast is very good with multiple options for everyone. This hotel offers very good value for money.
Sinine Salon&Spa is very stylish beauty house (illusalong).

Experience is heavily depending on the room you get! We changed after 1 night and got a much better room which changed our opinion :-)
Highlights:
Busy, relatively expensive hotel.
Nice, hot shower (if not flooding). Great location.
Extensive & good breakfast buffet.
Wifi not in every room.
Coffee in the lobby is good! (Though not served during breakfast ;-)
In short, a good option, but not superb.
