“Tallinn for a few days..this is a good choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

Assuming you have the budget of 100-150 euros a night, then I fully recommend this Hotel.
Firstly and as so often most importantly, the location is as good as it gets. The hotel is literally just minutes away from the heart of the old town. My first night was at the Radisson Blue Olumpia, and whilst the room was fine the distance to the old town was just too far.
Back to the Nordic...it is privately owned and the benefits of care and attention come thru.
I took the Double de Lux on the top floor...and whilst a notch or two over the standard,i was very pleased with the room. The design of both bedroom and bathroom made the extra worthwhile.
WiFi was free and worked pretty well. I would, like others, say the coffee machine is a bad choice. It is not easy to operate and to be only offered 2 cups without paying for more is penny pinching and annoying
The spa area is fine...not large and can be overcrowded, but pick your times carefully is a good facilty.
Breakfast is not a high point of the hotel. When busy, the area is a bit of a scrum and to be honest ,I thought the quality only just ok. If this is important to you,you might reconsider your choice.
I would echo comment from others...this City has a problem with taxis !!! If taking a taxi from the hotel,do not assume it is ok. Check first with reception. There are a number of seemingly genuine taxis that will rip you off...and some of the stories are alarming. If going to/from the port the taxi cost should be around 5 euros.
Whilst the old town is the natural destination from the hotel, behind the hotel are a few decent bars/restaurants as well as a very good cinema complex.

Room Tip: Double de lux 8th floor (mine was 801)

Still waaaay behind on my reviews. I fled London to avoid the mania surrounding the Diamond Jubilee. Combining Tallinn with Helsinki seemed like a pleasant way to get out of dodge for a while.
Managed to snag an excellent deal staying here in a fantastic room with the fabled breakfast included.
Two tips; don't risk eating late. Most restaurants stop service by 10pm. Don't miss the rooftop pool and gym. Bliss and not busy either.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back have no view to speak of despite facing the baltic sea but are quieter.

We used the hotel shuttle for 20euro saved any hassle. The hotel personnel all greeted us with a friendly smile. We asked if they had accommodation on 8th floor as it is advised by patrons of this site, he (the receptionist) found us two rooms at the back not looking onto construction site. The rooms are quite adequate with a quirky carpet in the hallway reminding me of the yellow brick road even though it is green. The air conditioner was set to heat and always returned to 21 degrees. The glass window in the standard room is opaque but offers little privacy, we had our friends back for a drink! The windows and rooms are well sound conditioned and we heard hardly any noise. The breakfast caters for all tastes with soft and hard boiled eggs available, fish, cold meats, cheeses and traditional along with yoghurts etc. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Get a room on upper floor going back to hotel use one of the taxis outside main entrance 10 Euro. Th...

Three couples stayed for a total of 4 nights. We moved to the countryside after the 3rd nite and returned 2 days later for the last one. The hotel kept our bags I. Holding so we didn't need to cart everything g with us and then gave us our same rooms when we returned. The front desk personnel could not have been more helpful and every morning greeted my husband with news pertaining to the US. We were there during the Boston & Texas problems, the rooms were very nice, beds quite comfy and very clean. We all had different bathrooms but showers were excellent and very roomy. Breakfast included was fantastic, with many selections to choose from. The hotel has a Spa/Beauty Salon connected and one day I passed on the hop on hop off bus tour for a massage. The therapist was good and I fell asleep during the massage so it was very relaxing. Personnel at the spa desk were ok, not to friendly and welcoming but they were ok for my use, booking my appt. Seemed lots of locals using this Salon. The hotel had lots of nice comfy couches & chairs in lobby, which we used and wonderful cappuccinos with a little spice type cookie. Within walking distance to OldTown and always felt safe. A great international hotel.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

I stayed here for 4 nights from the 15th-19th April '13 and loved it! I decided to book this hotel due to its proximity to the old town and also because of its very reasonable price. I wasn't disappointed in any way.

The hotel is located on Viru Väljak which is about 5-10 min walk (if that) from the old town square.

Initially on arrival we were allocated two rooms (445 & 445) on the 4th floor, facing what remains of the old post office. This is currently an active building site and wasn't exactly the nicest of views. Plus with the potential for building noise, we decided to ask for new rooms. The member of staff on reception couldn't have been more helpful and we were given two new rooms on the 6th floor, on the other side of the building away from the building noise. We had 605 and 618. 605 faces a modern office block with a partial view of the adjacent park & road, 618 faces the rear of the building with partial views of the Tallinn skyline.

Both rooms were excellent, spacious, well equipped, clean and suitably fitting the 4 star rating of the hotel. Beds very comfy with pillows that aren't wafer thin like most European hotels. Had 4 good nights sleep.

The hotel itself is very well run, the staff are friendly, speak very good English and are well trained. The lounge bar is a pleasant place to relax in the evening with a drink by the fire, or by the large windows watching the world go by.

Breakfast is served in the Monaco restaurant - so called as the hotel also doubles as the Consulate of Monaco - random. No complaints about breakfast at all. Loads to choose from, cooked foods for us Brits, cold fish & salads for the health conscious Europeans and everything in between. Finding a table could be a little tricky, so my only suggestion would be that they need more tables & chairs to accommodate large numbers of people all coming down to eat at the same time. Oh yes, the coffee - wow. I think I could get my car started on it if I really tried hard. If you like your coffee strong, this is the hotel for you.

The hotel also has a 'relaxation centre' (swimming pool & gym to you & me) which is situated on the 8th floor. Although I didn't use it, it's included in the price of the room as is breakfast. Very good value in my opinion.

The hotel also has free WIFI. This idea is great in theory, however the higher up the floors you go the weaker the signal gets. I couldn't get any decent signal in my room and had to go into the corridor to get anything. By far the best signal is in reception/lobby bar. Would be good to get WIFI transmitters on every floor so that guests can use the service in the comfort of their own rooms.

In short this is a great hotel. A definite must if you're planning to visit this great city.

Room Tip: On checking in make sure you ask for a room away from the building works next door to the hotel.

My partner and I stayed there for one night in April 2013 and the whole experience was just great. We had booked a Double Standard Room which turn out to be more like Superior Room in most Hotels we have visited. The Room was quite spacious, modern and stylish. Especially the bed was a positive suprise with fluffy pillows (two of them for both of us) and great sleeping quality overall. The Hotel was also very calm - we didn't hear any disturbing noises neither from outside or inside the hotel. The only dissapointment was that there was no proper view (you could only see the other wall of the hotel building) and you couldn't open the window at all. But at least there was working air conditioning in the room. Breakfast buffet was ok - food was tasty and there were enough choices but the restaurant was quite crowded in sunday morning. We were able to catch a table while we arrived there 8.30 but people who came after us weren't so lucky and they had to wait a while to be seated. Overall very positive experience and I would warmly recommend this hotel to all who want to stay close to old town and city center with reasonable prices.

Just spent two days on business in Tallinn. Excellent hotel situated close to the old town and within easy reach of everything.

The hotel staff all speak excellent English and are friendly and efficient.

The rooms are comfortable and what you'd expect from a good international hotel for the person there on business.
