Our first impressions were that this was a well-located and impressive building, and the reception staff were helpful and efficient throughout our stay. We enjoyed the choice at breakfast - a buffet featuring a selectioon of hot and cold dishes - and the facilities at the hotel are very good.
A ten minute stroll takes one to the Old Town and other attractions.
Our overall review and satisfaction rating would have to be tempered by the fact that the traffic noise permeated the room in which we stayed - overlooking a tram line and stops - to an unacceptable level. If the windows in the guest rooms are double-glazed, it doesn't work effectively. We had stayed at the Monika Centrum in Riga for the previous three nights, on a similar floor and overlooking a busy road, with little or no traffic noise.
Staff at the hotel were very helpful, offering guidance re early buses to the port and when we did check out at 06.40 to get the bus for the Helsinki ferry the receptionist very kindly (and unexpectedly) offered us a "small breakfast" as a group had just left and this had been provided for them. We therefore enjoyed coffee, croissants, etc., before going out into the rain - the helpful young man also made fresh coffee for us as the group had emptied all the coffee pots.
Seeing the rain, he also offered to call a taxi for us - customer service at its best!
