Myself and a friend stayed here for 4 nights for a city break. When we arrived in our room, we noticed there was a very strong smell of urine in the bathroom. We went and told reception who were embarrassed, apologetic and moved us immediately. The new room was fine although the bathrooms are very basic and a little shabby. However, the bedrooms are really lovely and the beds are very comfortable. The breakfast was pretty good, although there is more choice for more European travellers (cheese, meat, salads etc) than British travellers. The location of the hotel is good; it is very close to the old town but also in proximity to the new town and bus station.
Downfalls - no safes in the rooms. There were safes in reception but these required a €16 deposit and there was a €3.50 daily charge. This was very disappointing to us as we expected to be able to protect our belongings for free. Also, the free wifi did not cover our room - despite the fact we were told it would, our devices could not find the connection. Finally, there was no kettle in the room to make drinks which was disappointing.
All in all, this hotel is a decent budget hotel in a good location. With this hotel, you get what you pay for.
