Our first experience of a Swissotel and it was an excellent one!

The room was superb; great view of the harbour, really comfortable bed, fantastic bathroom with walk-in shower and a seperate bath and there was a coffee machine.

The breakfast buffet was very comprehensive, only problem being on a weekend it was a bit of a scrum and there is not enough seating in the lounge. A more ordered process should be condisered as in other busy hotels. On non-weekend days it was a much more relaxing.

The Spa was perfect after a winters day outside in the town centre. The sauna has a window and a view over a part of Tallinn, which was pretty neat. The small Turkish bath was good and the pool area very relaxing. To finish there were some drinks and biscuits available.

The bar at the top of the hotel offers a nice vista of Tallinn.

Unless we didn't notice it, there was no machine for cleaning your boots in the lobby of the hotel, which after walking in the snow/slush is very useful.

All-in-all a great stay.

I have stayed previously at the Schlössle, the Three Sisters and the Telegraaf Hotel but the small, crumpy medieval thing is not my style. Luckily I found the Swissotel. It would be a great hotel in any city and it is certainly the best in Tallinn. I particularly liked the sky bar with its great views and the cozy cigar lounge, also the spa and pool with one of the best sauna views (outside) in the world, the contemporary design of rooms and public areas, and the quality of breakfast. The location near to the airport is another plus.

This hotel is a glass building (about 30 floors) located not far away from the Old city (about 10 min walk) and 10 min by car from the airport. However, this could be tough to travel as pedestrian roads were not cleaned and after some time we had our leather shoes completely spoiled with salty spots... Next to the hotel there is Scandinavian famous Stockman store where you can buy anything you need (food, clothes, perfume etc.)
We arrived at 10am and, though I asked earlier when booked the hotel that we have an early check in, no room was available, so we left our bags and went to the city to do some shopping (really recommend to buy wool clothes in the Old city). Around 1pm we returned back and got a room on the 17th Floor (we've been upgraded to sea view, though, reception did not inform us on that).
Room is about 30 sqm with excellent bathroom (both bath and walk-in shower). View was not so great, so I would not recommend to pay extra for that. We liked a lot half transparent wall of a bathroom. You cannot see what's inside, but it's a great feeling of extra space in the room. Bed was good, but pillows were small, which is quite typical for Europeans. Coffee machine, some fruits, bathrobes and sleepers we've been given were nice. The only thing we did not really understood was a small TV (probably 26'') that you can hardly see from the bed and absence of drinking water. SPA was medium (strange people inside obviously not hotel guests), but service there was excellent. Breakfast was very good, so could recommend to use their special rate with breakfast. Checking out was quick and easy no extra payments. Overall a very good experience.

The best about this hotel is the decor and the highly professional staff. The spaces are beautiful, modern and very clean. The staff is very attentive, professional and friendly. Everyone were just amazing starting from the bellboy, the receptionist, restaurant staff and the people at the spa and by the pool. We didn't have to ask for anything because absolutely everything was told or offered before we even thought of asking for it.

The room was very spacious and the view was great! Breakfast was very good, but we really didn't like that the staff offered us coffee instead us getting it ourselves - we really had to wait for it for a long time every time. The waitresses were extremely busy and they seriously couldn't keep up with the customers. People were waiting for coffee, spoons, cleaning of the table etc. Also, when we left breakfast on one morning there were about 15 people waiting to get in the breakfast room. The room was full and people had to wait for their turn for quite a long time.

Also, I must complain about how the sleep quality was quite low. We heard the traffic even though we were on 19th floor! We also heard sounds from the room near us during the night. It was quite annoying. Also, the room got really cold during the night even though we adjusted the heating.

The spa and pool area were great! There wasn't a jacuzzi or even a second pool but it didn't matter because the pool area was beautiful, the pool was huge and the two saunas were great! Very nice facilities!

All in all, a good hotel, special thanks to amazing staff. Location is good and central, near Stockmann and Kaubamaja/Viru Keskus, about 10-15 min walk from the Old Town. There's a cute little cafe in the hotel, just by the entrance offering beautiful pastries! =)

The hotel bar was small but nice. Good wine selection.
