“Medieval atmospere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013 via mobile

First time I tried Elk soup, it is really good. The atmospere is awesome like go back in time to Middle ages, very love this place. BUT staff is very rude to us, my friend and I tried to figure it out whether she is acting that middle ages server must be rude or it is her, but we have fun tried to figure it out anyway. If you come to Tallinn, please do not miss this place :)

“Brilliant fun and good food as well”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

A recreated medieval tavern which you have to enter into with an open mind and a sense of fun. We were greeted by the 'tavern mistress' who was entertainment in herself. "there is no table service here" she greeted with a smiles. The menu is Elk soup - no spoons as we were advised "they weren't safe in the middle ages", a variety of pies " look and you see the pictures of fillings" and sausages "when my chef wakes up." Clearly this woman is related to Basil Fawlty and when she said "and your mother doesn't live here so clean up your own plates" I could have cried with laughter. There was free salted cucumbers which she tried to convince us were delicacies. It was a breath of fresh air to have honest humour with pies that were really nice. 3 pies, 1 sausages, 4 wines cost 15 euros so was good value for money. Get a seat near the door and be entertained as she greets each of the guests.

“This place is a must!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013 via mobile

A candle lit place full of rustic charm and a real medieval feel. Pop in a couple of sausages for 2 Euro, Or a tasty bowl of elk soup. Their meat or fruit pies are a real bargain too! Everything here is delicious, and all served by folk in medieval dress! You have to pop your head in at least!..

“Totally amazing place. You MUST visit this restaurant.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

We had read about this small restaurant and thought we must try it while in Tallinn. If we hadnt seen anything else in the town after visiting here, I would not have been disspointed. It was worth the trip all by itself. The interior looks like it is centuries old. Rustic furniture, candles, fur skins etc. It is amazing. I had their famouse Elk soup and a beer for 4 euros and it was gorgeous. The lady who served us this fine feast was superb. She was funny and made the experience even more enjoyable. If you are in Tallinn, go here first. Everything else can wait!

“Excellent atmosphere and value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013

I went for a quick lunch on my last day in Tallinn. For 3 Euros, I got a bowl of elk soup and an apple tart. Both items were delicious. Plus, the atmosphere is great - wood tables, ceramics, etc. If you're looking for a quick, tasty lunch for next to nothing, this is the place to go!
