“New museum in old historical buildings”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2012

15 minutes walk from hotel, surroundings in bad shape but museum was nice for kids as well. Interactive pieces and good ideas to keep the small busy

“Off the Beaton track, but worth a visit on a cold day.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2012 via mobile

We had to get a taxi as our map didn't display the location, our taxi driver also had to ask for directions. Highlight was the submarine, very interesting to experience. Interaction games for kids and adults alike. The hanger contained the best display, the outside ships we're covered in snow and not open when we visited, but yet we paid for them.

“Brilliant new museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

Bit of a trek to get to but on the other hand you will see some real "Sovietsky"Tallinn and the work they have had to do, past the Baterei prison. Excellent exhibits and a surprising light show at a quarter past the hour. Excellent cafe and shop, too

“Exceptional experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

For a plus - perfectly organized exhibition for visitors at every age. Unique chance to see a submarines interior. Lots of information for interested in military stuff and yachting. The only minus is location - a little bit off Old Town and needs better marking as it's hard to get there on foot, especially without a map. Anyway - highly recommendable.

“Beautifully stylish and informative”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

First of all, maximum use has been made of this historic space, with the clever use of different levels. The atmospheric lighting is superb and in addition to well-sited information screens along the way, there are a lot of hands-on exhibits that will keep the adults and children alike entertained. My favourite was the old naval costumes which you can try on and have your photo taken. They also have children's sizes too. There is also a couple of flight simulators and a virtual shooting gallery, where you can try your luck at shooting down some planes and helicopters.

The star of the show is the WWII British-built submarine "Lembit" which is great fun to clamber about, although do mind your head!

There is also a very stylish and reasonably-priced cafeteria with friendly staff which overlooks the main hangers. The marine- themed rest rooms are fun too. A lot of thought has gone into making this a wonderful way to spend a few hours and learn something about Estonia's maritime history at the same time. Once outside, if you bought the tickets containing the "extras", you can visit the steam-powered icebreaker "Suur Töll" and various other vessels that are exhibited in the harbour area. Highly recommended!
