We were a bit overwhelmed by the number of tourists in the Old Town of Tallinn, and so we took a taxi to the Botantical Gardens, some 5 miles to the east.
The gardens were always an attraction for us, and having done a bit of research back at home (on TA) we were convinced that this would always be viable for us. Unfortunately, we arrived far too early for the Palm Houses to be open. It did however, give us plenty of time to enjoy many of the features in very warm sunshine of this very large site.
Two features that were instantly visable, were the (closed) palm houses, and the dominating presence of the nearby television tower.
In the gardens themselves, there was a mixture of old favourites, like peonies and iris, together with less familiar plants. All immaculately cared for, in large traditional borders, surrounding the ponds, or as with the roses in a collection garden.
i wished that we could stayed longer.
Great place for all.
