I stayed at the Reval for a night on business, and thank God it was only one night. I think I got about 2 hours sleep!
First, the good. The staff were all very polite and helpful (although one had terrible body odour) and the restaurant and the breakfast it served was of a good solid standard - the sort of thing you'd expect from a middle-tier business hotel.
However, the free wi-fi was incredibly slow (dial-up speeds) which is a real problem if you have work to do before your meeting the next day. The bed was pretty uncomfortable and the interior was rather drab and depressing (not a patch on the excellent new more Nordic-inspired Reval Elizabete in Riga). What's more there is no scope for absorbing and damping noise anywhere in the hotel. The floors are wood, the doors loud and metallic so you can hear every step someone makes as they loudly make their way back to their rooms throughout the night, slamming the doors as they go. Between that and the traffic noise it was nigh on impossible to get a wink.
Bathroom was reasonable (although like most hotels the shower head is designed for short people so those of us who eat our greens and don't smoke have to stoop down).
Will probably being staying elsewhere on my next trip to Tallinn.
