“Wow, What a View!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

We didn't stay at this hotel, but stopped in for a drink in the afternoon before going back to our cruise ship. The rooftop bar has good service (they provide buzzers on your table to flag a server) and a fun drink menu. But the real reason we went here was for the panoramic view of the city. We could see everything up there from Old Town to our ship. It was worth the trip just for that.

Dear Joyce C,

Thank you for sharing your positive experience. We are delighted that you enjoyed our roof top bar and our small city. Our Lounge 24 is one of the few bars which have wireless waiters (buzzers on the table to flag a server). It is very comfortable for guests and for servers. It adds privacy or speed if needed. Lounge 24 is 90 m above see level and has one of a kind panoramic view over Tallinn and bay.
Thank you once more Joyce C, for your positive feedback and support. We hope to welcome you back.

With Kind Regards,
Kristel

We stayed here three nights and enjoyed it a lot. It has Scandinavian modernism so you don't have to worry about outdated anything! Very nice views of Old Town from the bar on the top floor, and not far to walk to the gates of the lower Old Town. The cruise ships tend to get to the upper town, so this is a nice place to hang out. Very good breakfast in the hotel, and a good attached restaurant next door that had super food for reasonable prices.

Stayed at the Radisson Blu Tallinn in May 2013. My personal preference for hotels is clean and modern so this was a perfect fit for me. It seems to have been recently renovated - wood floors, large windows, large flat screen tv. We had a room on the 16th flr with an amazing view of the old town. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was great as well - huge spread and lots of things to choose from. The hotel is located about a 10 minute walk from old town so was reasonably convenient. Loved it and would definitely stay there again.

We have stayed many times in this hotel. Hotel is very nice and modern. Staff is great and willing.
Rooms are now renovated and they are now modern, simple and beautiful. View from the rooms are great, you can see over the town and all the way to the harbor.

Breakfast is also great.

I`m used to traveling around former-USSR countries. So, my policy about accommodation is simple – you`d better stay at worldwide network hotels.

That’s the reason why I chose Radisson in Tallinn (note it, there are two Radissons there, this one - Radisson Blu, and the second - Radisson Olympus, which was built about 30 years ago and has been renovated, so you may consider choosing first one).

If you stayed in this network previously – you know what it is about. For those who are new: the rooms are cozy, bathroom is ok, wifi is free, breakfast is good (great selection of meat), staff are friendly, mini-bar is computerized (if you take anything from it, for example to read the label – consider it`s bought).

And don`t forget to visit the skybar at the top of the building to see the picturesque view there (also, one little tip – the higher your room is – the greater picture from the window you have).

3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013

I've stayed at the Radisson fairly regularly over the past few years, and on this last visit this was recognised with a little tray of tasties in the room, which was nice (see the photo). Unfortunately, that also means I can compare the hotel before and after the renovations which the other reviews are talking about... and I'm sorry to say I liked the room and the restaurant a lot better before they were done.

The new room style is very light and minimalist, with not much furniture - big TV, smart reading lights in the bed (and other globe-style hanging lights that don't work yet, as in other reviews) and they've lost the old wooden units in the rooms. Trouble is, in stripping all that out they've also removed useful stuff like the ironing board and iron and minibar and so on. So when you unpack and want to iron your shirts, housekeeping have to deliver you the ricketiest old ironing board and most antique non-steam iron ever seen - couldn't they just have kept the old ones? Ah well. Plus there's less hanging and storage space, and worst of all you now can't control the air conditioning, so it's set to permanently chilly. At least they haven't messed around with the bathrooms, so they're still just fine.

Now in fairness let me point out I didn't mention any of this to staff - perhaps they would have whisked me off to a different room. But it was a pretty busy trip, with not much time to sort that out, and it has to be said that if they are renovating all the rooms like that, pretty soon they won't be able to do much about it anyway....

The breakfast room now has fewer tables and places - so we couldn't get a clean table any morning we came to breakfast. Understaffed, and they're run off their feet, so although in theory you're offered a pot of coffee, it's so much quicker and easier to go and sort it out at a machine yourself (just like every other time I've stayed here....) It's also gone for a minimalist new look, and again I preferred it how it was, but that's just a matter of taste and I don't pretend to have any so never mind.

On the plus side, the view over the Old Town from the rooms on the right side is still there and still fabulous, and the staff are great - when you can get hold of them (reception too can be totally overloaded by tour groups? cruise groups? whoever). Service is friendly and helpful and can't be faulted. And the location, just as in the other reviews, is still great.

But.... while beforehand there was little to choose between here and the Nordic Forum in terms of the rooms, apart from the view the Nordic Forum is now definitely, unarguably better. So, sorry, Radisson, thanks for the cookies but next time I'm in Tallinn (September) I'll be asking for the Nordic Forum instead...

Room Tip: The higher the floor, the better the view over the Old Town - just make sure you're on the right...

Radisson Blu is a modern hotel, close to the hystorical Old Town, and some 10 minutes away from the Tallinn international airport.
Staff is very nice and helpful.
Breakfast is great, and not expensive.
Free WiFi is everywhere in Tallinn, and almost everybody speaks English.
