“Nice central hotel in old town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

If you're looking for a central hotel in the old town of Tallinn, and don't want to splurge this really is for you.
The location is near-perfect lying in the old town, located in an old building, which is both a bonus and a curse...
A bonus because it's a quaint cozy and charming hotel.
A curse because no two rooms are identical. You risk getting bunkbeds depending on room!

However the service is excellent, nothing wrong with the rooms (except perhaps space depending on room), and the breakfast buffet is quite adequate.

Highly recommended if you want a nice stay in the old town.

Without seeing every room in the hotel it's difficult to know whether some are as small as reports suggest. Ours was on the top floor and enormous (though you had to duck under the beams). Carrying cases up a couple of flights of stairs could be a problem as the lift doesn't go all the way to the upper floors. Rooms at the front might suffer a bit from noise if the disco happens to be open opposite but that only happened on one night of our four night stay and finished about midnight so wasn't a real problem.
The location is ideal; three minutes walk from the town square and in one of the most interesting of the old town's traffic free roads. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was excellent. Value for money overall, excellent.
Loads of restaurants and bars in the immediate area. Ones in the town square tend to be a bit over priced for what they offer but there is a huge choice in surrounding streets.

Room Tip: Ask for a larger than basic room

Stayed for two nights. My room was the smallest I've ever had, but it was clean and functional. The location is wonderful. It is approx. 2min. walk to the square and central to everything in the old town. With my luggage it was an easy 10-15 min. walk to the hydrofoils. The front desk was helpful and friendly. The breakfast was all you could eat and great. This is a very nice place.

Warning.. be sure to read what your room is going to be before you book it. We orginally booked a room that said bunk beds. This was fine, till we found out the room was so small two people could not be out of bed at the same time. The only place to sit was in the bathroom that was also very small. We immediately checked with reception and got a larger room. It was really nice and 3 or 4 times bigger than the original room. Our room faced Lai street at the rear of the hotel. There is a school across the street and musicians practiced till late at night. If you opened the window you couldn't sleep with the noise from the practice sessions. The beds didn't have fitted sheets and I would find myself fighting to keep the bottom sheet on the bed. The breakfast was very good with lots of choices for everyone. One morning we had to eat in the restaurant in the cellar of the hotel (there was a meeting going on in the regular breakfast area). This hotel had a great location just minutes from the Old Town Square. Lots of choices of restaurants for meals. The staff was friendly and helpful.

The hotel is only a couple of minutes from the heart of Old Town Tallinn, and we found it to be an excellent value for the cost of a room. Rooms are reasonable in size, basic but clean. Breakfast is served in a stone room located in the basement (be sure to watch your head walking down the stairs as the ceiling above the stairs is very low) and offers a good selection. The hotel has a cafe called "Cafe Mademoiselle", and we stopped in one night for dessert and coffee (which was excellent). You won't find a better hotel room value for your dollar in Tallinn.

We stayed in the hotel for just one night so we chose the cheapest room possible with bunk beds. The room was incredibly tiny and so was the bathroom. Amazing breakfast and free spa and wellness tickets save the situation actually. Location couldn't be any better and the staff was very helpful.
However, if you stay for more than one night I suggest you to look for more expensive rooms as you won't like to be squeezed in a 1-by-2 meters room for more than a couple of hours.

This hotel has an ideal location in the middle of old town. My room was a decent size, clean, and had a nice view from the window (my room faced Lai St.) Breakfast was good and staff were helpful. If you are a light sleeper, you may want a room facing the courtyard as the late night drunks can be tedious (and it's embarrassing how often they speak English - I'm getting nostalgic for the days when white trash stayed home). One small quibble was the lack of fitted sheets. I'm a fidget when I sleep and a flat sheet comes loose in no time. Other than that, a very good stay.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the street have a nice view. Courtyard rooms are quieter. Choice will depend on your pr...
