“A very creepy place....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

You have to go visit this place....it's simply amazing....and not in a good way.
Especially the cellar was really creepy....you just can't believe that a place like this was in use just a few decades ago.

Excellent historical museum showing the brutality of the cold war and the suffering of the Lithuanian people. It makes you realise the beast that lies within the human beings...

“A Must See Museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

This building has certainly see its share of evil. From 1941-1944 it was the Gestapo Headquarters and then for the next 47 years it became the home of the KGB in Vilnius. I found the museum absolutely fascinating. While it does touch on the Gestapo and World War 2 history it is mainly about life in Lithuania under the KGB.There are 2 floors that you can visit plus the basement which is the KGB Prison. Some of the exhibitions include the resistance groups, deportations, hard labor camps, and the history of the KGB in general. There is also a KGB eavesdropping room. The prison and execution chamber in the basement are chilling

“Sad to see but a Necessary Visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

Vilnius is so full of saddness it is a lovely surprise to come across such a friendly nation. After visiting the Jewish Museum, Tolerence Centre and taking a private jewish tour this is just another bit of sadness. Interesting to see a little graphic in the torture chamber where a reconstruction of shootings are shown on the television but again necessary to visit to see such brutality and evilness of human beings.
