“Good rooms, not food and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2010

I have stayed several times for business purposes in this hotel. The room quality is ok, however I would never choose this hotel myself for several reasons. The location is convenient only if you want to spend your free time running in a nearby park (if weather allows), it is too far to the city centre. I never liked the breakfast there: no fresh fruit or good juice, everything swimming in oil, problems to get green tea.. I would not recommend the hotel restaurant at all, it is ok once but I had to eat there full board for a whole week - the food style was maybe Lithuanian version of Italian cuisine and it was too much to take. I do not recommend it for longer meetings at all!

Really this IS a good 20 plus minute walk into town and the street-lighting is bad in places and there are no buses, so unless you're happy to take a cab ( about 15 litas) each way or walk that far don't stay here.

On the plus side it's quiet, comfortable and service was of a reasonably high standard. The swimming pool was icy and reception kept turning the sauna & steam-room off but when they were working it was a nice place to relax after the hike back to the hotel.

I stayed couple of nights in a ”standard room” and enjoyed my stay. Room was clean, spacious and well furnished. The breakfast buffet was good, but I didn't use other restaurant services, so I can't comment those. I think that the Crowne Plaza chain's usual quality standards were met. Only the location was not so good. The main sights of the old city are basically within a walking distance, but it's quite a long walk and there is no trolleys or buses to this direction. The location might not be a problem for the business travelers, but if you are going to stroll around the city by foot, more central location might be better.

Stayed here on a recent business trip for 2 nights.

Was upgraded to a suite due to being a gold member of the hotels priority club. This made a change as often this does not happen. Room was excellent with seperate bedroom and sitting room/lounge. No hassle with connecting to the WIFI which as a business traveller is an important factor.

Ate in the hotel both nights, food was nice enough. Had two options to eat, either in the 16th floor Horizons resteraunt or the bar in the lobby.

The hotel advertises a gym/fitness room. This basically equates to a few rusty weight machines in the basement. Not what was to be expected and a bit dissapointing. This needs rectifying.

The hotels location leaves a bit to be desired for. Around a 20-25 minute walk into the town so not ideally located.

All in all though a nice hotel which certainly did the job. If visiting for business makes a perfect base but would probably recommend something a bit closer to town if visiting for a holiday/personnel reasons.

Visited for two nights as part of a tour group. The hotel is a 20-25 minute walk from the old town, going downhill. Although some in our group walked into town, no one was willing to walk back, thus taxis are required. The hotel is an older refurbished building. My room was quite large with above average furnishings and a standard bathroom. The pool/workout area was closed for repairs during my stay. The dinner was only average, and the breakfast buffets were unspectacular, food choices were few, and the staff in the restaurants were not very friendly. Although this was supposed to be one of the nicest neigborhoods, with a park, the medical school, and various embassies in the area, I would not recommend this hotel for tourists, or for anyone whose business takes them into the downtown area.

Worst service in Europe. Linens all frayed and hotel's excuse was that their budget did not permit upgrading until following months. Had to carry own luggage as no porters due to low pay. Breakfast room had no staff and only sparse offerings, and guests had to bus own dishes. Pool unattended and no towels nor chairs. Gift shop offerings sparse and high priced. Building looks nice from outside but that's all. Manager very nice but her hands were tied due to ownership not wanting to invest any money in the property.
