“Lovely central hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2011

I couldn't fault this hotel. It's very central so you can walk to a lot of the sights, like the main square and the Gates of Dawn.

I was travelling as part of a tour group and quite often dinner for groups can be ok but nothing exciting. Dinner here was great so full marks on that score. The building is an old one with an extension and getting to your room can be confusing at first, but once you've figured it out you're fine.

If you get the chance pay a visit to Trakai Castle - setting for the film "Robin Hood Price of Thieves". The castle is mostly reconstructed but very picturesque and an intersting place to spend some time.

If you're interested in history the KGB headquarters museum is very moving. I hadn't heard much of the history of Lithuania till I visited and found this an education.

Vilnius is a lovely place to spend a weekend and it's hard to find a hotel that ticks all the boxes like this one.

I have stayed here several times, and have always been very satisfied. The rooms are spacious and clean, the breakfast is very good and the staff is really attentive and service minded. The last time I was there, I spent the week-end, and was a bit anxious about noise from the streets at Friday and Saturday nights. But the room was very peaceful, even if it faced the square.

Room Tip: Rooms 301 and 302 faces the square

The initail room i was given, although supposed to be a double was tiny (they had put a double bed in a small one bed sized room), and besides this, it was looking out into the inner 'courtyard', ie lots of other peoples windows. I had the immediate feeling of depression and of being cheated thinking i was to spend two nights in that room, while paying 125€ per night for the pleasure! This feeling was further exagerated since i had just moved from the Novotel Vilnius which, although lacking in the character of these older style buildings, was great value for money!
I decided to ask for a different room, which was pleasantly easily accomodated, and the difference was dramatic!!! I was given a room in the 'new' section of the hotel, on the top floor with a view over the city, and most importantly almost twice the size of the original. What can i say, in the new room, everything was rosey again, and overall a pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the new section of the hotel. You'll end up walking a bit further, but well wo...

The hotel is right in the city centre, perfectly located for sightseeing.
We got a businnes room, which was very spacious and tastefully furnished with 1930s-style furniture. Bathroom was huge, which a good selection of complimentary toileteries.
Breakfast was excellent, and you can eat it in the veranda overlooking the square and St. Casimir Church.
If you happen to be interested in that sort of thing, it boasts an impressive list of famous guests, including Prince Charles and the Emperor of Japan.
Only downside would have to be that there's just one lift, so expect to queue when big groups come in.

I stayed there for two nights for business reasons.
The lobby seems a bit small, but the atmosphere is very personal. Very rarely seen such friendly staff before. Checkin was fairly quick, also the checkout. As mentioned, the frontdesk staff was very friendly and helpful.
The room I had was very big. Although not the newest furniture, everything was of high quality. Bathroom also spacious, and the complete room very clean. TV was a flat screen with the usual choice of channels. Wifi available but not free (only in the lobby and bar).
Bar and cafe very comfortable. Cafe offers sort of tea hour in the afternoon, where you can get local cake specialities etc. Hot tea is very recommendable, especially if you are there in winter.
Breakfast was very good with big choice of food. Didn't have lunch or dinner, as the hotel is in the center, and there are loads of restaurants around.
The value I got for the prize was really high!

If you're staying in the Old Town of Vilnius, you should be here. The hotel is a grand example of what fine accommodations used to be at the turn of the century. Grand staircase connects all of the rooms and the hotel is near every sight you'd want to see (all within a few hundred metres really). The room I had was an executive room located with a beautiful street view of the town. There's no real noise from traffic, so don't fret. The rooms even have an espresso maker! Shame I was a bit of a wreck from all of the drinking I did on the trip and forgot in the morning! Nightlife is also within a stone's throw front the front door. If you're looking in Vilnius and are on the fence as to which property to stay in, look no further. You won't be sorry. The only downside I encountered was that they didn't have a Bureau de Change, which was a hassle because I arrived past five when the banks had already shut. Upside? Everything else. A nice classy, old girl.

Room Tip: If you're paying full-retail, ask for a business room, they're larger and nicer than the reg...
