Description: Restaurant "Gabi" is situated in a heart of the Old Town in the farmer house of handicraftsman. It attracts your attention by original old-time interior. There are many things here to feast your eyes upon. Renovated frescos from the 18th c., Exhibited fragment of wooden ceiling from the 16th c. And other carefully preserved ancient elements stress the uniqueness of this restaurant. Antiquarian things and articles of artistic forge give this authentic interior a lot of coziness. Everything in this old-styled restaurant tells up-to-date. The time you spend here will not be wasted because while looking round the hall and tasting various dainties you suddenly find yourself in the past. Restaurant was opened in 1994.

“Get the eggplant appetizer!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2012

Gabi's was really close to where we stayed, and after a long day of traveling, we weren't going to venture out very far for food. We really enjoyed the food here, its true the service was pretty slow, but they even say on their menu that nothing excellent is made in haste, so we knew what to expect. The food was good all around and they had a decent wine selection. I wanted to go back for the eggplant for the next three days, so I would highly recommend this place to anyone. The price was reasonable for a restaurant right off the main street in old town.

“You can't get wrong”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2012

No matter whether you want to rely on something familiar or are in the mood to try something new, you can't go wrong. Everything that comes out of their kitchen is tasty.

“regular food - reasonable price - excellent atmosphere”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2010

After reading the three 5-points-reviews to this resto, I decided to stop by with my co-worker. The verdict is: It is certainly over-rated. This is a regular restaurant, impressively decorated. The atmosphere is great. But:

1) The food was not excellent. We were told that the salmon, as well as the royal halibut we ordered were frozen. By the aspect of the broccoli and the coliflower, they had been frozen too.

2) the service is astonishely slow. We finished the appetizer and, about 45 minutes later were asked if we wanted dessert. Our answer was: we're still waiting for the main course.

3) the spicy eggplant is not spicy, however, it is really good (you should try it, especially if you like garlic).

4) Try to avoid the house wine (the georgian white wine).

Overall, it was a good experience. But food could improve.

“I had never been in a restaurant that wouldn't let you take pictures, but...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2010

You walk right into the old world here and the food is authentic to the region. We went back a second time just to try something different. This place makes you feel as if you are truly immeresed in your vacation and you can relax among an atmosphere that keeps your eyes wandering. Service seemed slow, but we were starving and they had just opened the first time. Evening service turned out to be very good and accomodating late in the evening. Don't forget to wander around a bit and look at different areas.

“A highly satisfying and interesting meal at a great price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2010

Only a tiny bit off the beaten track near the Hotel Narutis, Gabi offers terrific and very likable Lithuanian food. An English menu is clear and well-written and the waiters also speak English. The restaurant itself is very handsome, both inside and in a very pretty outside courtyard. One of my favorite restaurants in the Baltic states.
