“Convenient but quiet location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

This hotel is situated on a quiet road, but only minutes away from the Cathedral square and other places of historic interest. There are plenty of restaurants and bars to suit a wide range of tastes, within a short walk from the hotel.
The reception staff are pleasant, friendly and helpful.
The hotel is clean and the beds are comfortable, however 2 hangers per person and no wardrobe, cupboard or drawer in either room is not adequate for a stay of 6 days.
Although it is great value for money.
We enjoyed Vilnius very much and would probaby stay at the Tilto again.

We booked this hotel after looking at several others on Tripadvisor and finally decided on Hotel Tilto due to its location and good reviews. We booked a taxi through the hotel and so glad we did, he was waiting for us as soon as we came through the arrival hall. We arrived a little too early to check in but this wasn't a problem. The receptionist took our bags and asked us to return in an hour or so when our room would be ready. We went for a drink in a bar directly across the way returning in a couple of hours. Our room was in the attic space with a sloping roof which once you were used to it was not a problem. Everything was spotless and we were beginning to think we had chosen the right hotel but from then on it was all downhill. In the morning we went down for breakfast. There are two rooms both very small. One was next to the kitchen and the other just down the corridor. There was no table available in either room and had to sit in what I presume was the bar area. Breakfast was the first disappointment. There was no crusty bread rolls or pastries and no yoghurts. Choice of cheese and meat was limited. Yes there was a toaster but everybody was using it so you always had to wait. I have stayed in many hotels all over the world and I have never had such a poor breakfast. My next complaint was the staff. Much too often the food would run out and was not replenished. Cutlery and crockery was also in short supply and if you dare ask for more i was always told to get some out of the other breakfast room, or they would raise their eyes to the ceiling as if it was too much trouble for them. Not once did I see a smile on their faces, in fact one morning a member of staff was visibly crying, after another member of what looked like senior staff had spoken to her, I also noticed other guests were also talking about the attitude of the staff and the lack of food at breakfast.
The hotel is advertised as irish owned and as other guests have said this appears to be a gimick as the only sign of this is a sign and a mirror with Guinness written on it, though they do sell draft Guinness but I don't see the point in marketing the hotel as irish owned just because of this. The bedroom was quite spacious. The bed was not too bad but there was only one pillow each. There was a group of people staying on the same floor as us who did make quite a lot of noise when coming in at night but were worse in the morning, though this was not the fault of the hotel, but it did affect sleep quality, also the walls are quite thin and you could hear other guests in the next rooms.
When we went to check out we were not asked if we were happy with our stay, in fact the girl in the reception desk did just about what was necessary and no more, and again without a smile.
Hotel Tilto need to train their staff in customer relations. Also the breakfast rooms need sorting. So many people have made the same comments about the size of the rooms and the quality of the breakfast. If these two issues were addressed the hotel would be so much better. The location is perfect and the wi fi worked perfectly and everything was spotlessly clean.
If I ever return to Vilnius I think I would look at other hotels before booking here again unless they get their act together and listen to what guests are saying.

I am sorry to learn of your recent experience, and Thank you for sharing it
with us.
Having investigated this, I note that we had two new staff members on their
own, as two others rang in sick. I apologise sincerely for their poor attitude and
can assure you that our attention to guests normally is of the highest standard.
In fact we are regularly praised for our customer service with a smile and
attention.
In Hotel Tilto, we are privledged to occupy a 200 year old building, but it
has its restraints, like two small rooms for breakfast. In our busy season, the
receptionist normally asks the guest to pick a suitable time for breakfast, so that
we can attend everyone efficiently.
We cater for many nationalities, so we offer a variety of different food items
for breakfast which may seem surprising to others.
Our staff understand that the client pays our wages, and that we have to do
our best to make sure the client looks forward to returning again. We offer a high
standard for a very attractive price and thankfully we are successful at this.

Again, I do apologise and hope that you will give us a chance to prove
ourselves on another occassion.

Sincerely,
Lina Baltrimaite

We chose this hotel primarily for it's location and it couldn't be better.
All the main sights of the city are within easy walking distance and there are a good choice of bars and restaurants close by.
The hotel itself is excellent, located in a quiet area, so no excessive noise.
The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, with a good bathroom but no bath, only a shower. (Not to everyones tastes, but I rarely use a bath anyway)
The staff are both friendly and efficient, offering help with anything you need during your stay.
Breakfast is served in the bar area and is standard continental with a good choice of the regular meats, cheeses, etc, and some more unusual offerings, such as fish and salad.
My one and only critism of the hotel is that there is no wardrobe or drawer space in the rooms for clothes storage.
Overall, an excellent base for exploring the wonderful city of Vilnius.

The Tilto is a very clean ,comfortable hotel situated within minutes walking distance of the main sights of beautiful Vilnius. We found the staff generally polite and obliging. We were surprised that some guests found the hotel noisy with "paper thin walls" but we had no experience of this.
On the downside we must report that breakfast time was disorganised and chaotic. The breakfast room was very small therefore an overspill dining area had been set up in the bar. Not only did this not have the same choice of food but the waitresses were clearing away at 9.30 without any regard for the fact that we were still eating! No one seemed to be monitoring the situation. On the last morning I informed the waitress that there was no hot water left, she looked up to the heavens and completely ignored me. Come on Hotel Tilto this is not good enough for paying guests.
I considered giving the hotel an average rating due to the breakfast fiasco, but it was the only blot on their copybook, all else was really very good.
On the plus side Vilnius is a very beautiful place - don't miss it!

Stayed there with my partner for 4 nights. First we got allocated the room which was really small with no wardrobe space! After complaint to the front desk I was promised to be moved to better accommodation first thing in the morning which they did and we could not fault it! Charming and spacious, extremely clean, very quiet ( maybe it was because windows were facing inner courtyard - not the most pleasant picture, but quite night sleep compensated it in full). Hotel located within 5 minutes’ walk to the central street, Cathedral Square, University and all other main attractions. Breakfast served until 10am weekdays and has a good spread of breakfast basics and some really strange stuff (which was very tasty by the way also I have no idea what it was! ) hotel has sauna and Jacuzzi advertised, but we did not have time to explore these facilities, so cannot comment. The hotel bar could stay open a bit longer(22.00) but as you can find a bar open till 6am just across the street, it does not present a huge problem. Charming place and would definitely recommend. Will stay there on the next visit!

Room Tip: Some rooms can be on a small scale, but staff is very helpful, so will accomodate if asked and large...

This hotel is very centrally located which is a huge plus. Front desk staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are small, but comfortable and clean. The biggest problem is with paper thin walls. You can hear every word being said next door and every step being made in a hallway.

Good things about this hotel are the location and the price. Old town and shopping area are within 5 minutes walk. However rooms - we had a family room in the attic - are not like on the pictures. Room temperature was not satisfactory: max 20C inside while -8C outside does not make you feel comfortable in the winter. Sound-proofing of the room is quite bad, we could hear our yelling Irish neighborhood very well. Breakfast is okay, nothing special. For 1 hour in the jacuzzi and sauna you have to pay some 40-45 EUR, do not think it worth... All in all: average value for the price but you shall not have big expectations!
