“Old accomodation, great service at restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2014

Accommodation is very basic and old. There was mold in the bathroom. Part of the houses is from wood - it makes terrible noises when you walk. We liked service in restaurant very much and also closenest to Aquapark.

Dear “lucinkasun“,

thank you very much for your review.
We are delighted that you enjoyed the service in restaurant and the Aquapark Tatralandia.
Holiday Village Tatralandia was open in 2004. Since that time we made several renovations and repairs, although the style of the village remains the same, and might look oldfashioned.
But we will do our best to make the rooms look better – already till the summer season.

Thank you again, dear “lucinkasun“for your comment and apologise for your inconvenience. We hope to meet you, if you once will visit Tatralandia again.

We stayed at HVT for 4 days with the purpose of hiking in the Tatra mountains. The accommodation was normal - clean and sufficient for our purpose of stay. In the evening we went to the fun park and especially we enjoyed the Celtic sauna world with a great variety of saunas, which was a great relax after the hikes.

Room Tip: We had 222 in normal building

Accommodation is rather basic, but clean good enough for our type of stay (skiing). It benefits from the close proximity of Aquapark. One drawback I identified are rather thin walls, so in case you have noisy neighbours, you are out of luck. Try to get corner/side apartments or invest into standalone chalets.

The complex attracts many foreign tourists, including school trips. Depending on the nationality, you can start building your list of loudest nations.

Complex is quite far away from slopes and if you depend on ski-bus (shuttle), be prepared for pretty tough moments, esp. if travelling with kids. There's always x-times more tourists waiting for the bus than there are seats and you'll be shocked how some turn into animals when they force their way into bus, walking over kids... Then you experience long 40 minutes of slow ride uphill, inhaling exhausts of cars in front, strong perfumes from certain tourists from most eastern part of Europe, while your face is constantly slapped by bag on another tourist's shoulder.
Even worse is situation on the way back, when bus collects tourists not staying in the hotel, but who just go few stops down to their carpark.

It's fight for life.

Besides of this, the nature around is beautiful and most of the local people are friendly.

Restaurant in complex is pretty good and is real bargain, esp. if you come from the western countries. During breakfasts you can be shocked again though, but that's mainly due to unbehaved greedy foreign guests, than a personal, who does really all they can.

Fantastic benefit is mini-market in complex, where you can buy decent selection of food, drinks and toiletries.

In summary - if you have kids, you'll probably overcome the odds and use hard to beat combination of big thermal Aquapark and walking distance accommodation. Alternatively you'd need to invest into private taxis/car rental. If noise is your enemy, go to stand-alone chalets.

We spent a wonderful weekend with our family in Tatralandia. The services for children were excellent. We recommend this place because all family members found interesting and enjoyable activities. Breakfast was various, waiters and staff were willing to help anytime. The surrounding was tidy and full of attractions for children.

Holiday village itself looks really romantic as the houses are made in different styles and you can visit a small zoo they have at the back and feed animals also.
We were staying here for couple of nights and we were given a terraced cottage, which was actually coupled with other cottages from the back and the sides. And this was a real disaster as our neighbours were having party until early morning hours and so kept us awake all night as there obviously isn´t any insulation in the walls between cottages. We could hear every word they said. As we stayed here at the peek skiing season, all the cottages were booked out and so breakfast was another disaster. Coming after 8.30 meant you had no table to sit and there was nothing left to eat, no bread, no fruit, no cooked breakfast. So the first morning we stayed hungry and next days we got up at 7.00 to get something and there was plenty of everything. Obviously there wasn´t enough staff to look after the buffet.
Aguapark is a must even in winter. We were here with a small baby and there is many pools that we could go into with him. Restaurant serves nice meals but it is a bit pricey.

Room Tip: choose a detached cottage if possible

We stayed here during the winter season, and skiied the Jasna resort area. We were up on the mountain in about 30 minutes from here, and had a fantastic, kid-friendly area to rest our weary bones at night at the adjacent Tatralandia Aquapark - within walking distance. We stayed in a cabin, family of four, and all accommodations were clean and satisfactory. The cabin village area is really cute, and breakfast was fine too. Great place for kids to burn off some energy at the beginning or end of the day!
