Currently I am on a facrt finding trip around Kosice to look for a Hotel to use as the central base for our business trips to the East of Slovakia.
I have now stayed in a couple of hotels in this beautiful city but this by far is the best.
Firstly the complimentary fruit bowl was a welcome treat on my arrival after a 5 and 1/2 drive from the west. Secondly the Health Spa was nice to enable my muscles to relax again after the drive and cool off (it was plus 35 degrees C), please let me pull attention to the fact that you must be naked in in the SPA, I am no prude and have spent many a relaxing time in Sweden where this is normal, however do not be to suprised if some people take this to be a literal interpretation, there is nudism and the is TO MUCH :) but the facilities and the host were both great. Also they give you a complimentary drink voucher which is great to also relax.
The rooms are of a very high standard, the beds are excellent (the mini bar fridge is very quiet) also although it is right in the centre with eassy access to the main cafe/restuarant district (only 5 minutes walk) during the evening it is very quiet with great air conditioning (very important for an Irish guy).
The breakfast was perfect, lots of choice and very helpful morning server. The receptionist was always smiling and happy to see you and no request was to much for them to deal with. I did not try the evening meal but I am sure it would have been just as great. Just one request, maybe the addition of Baked Beans would be very much appreciated by the english, US and IRISH Visitors (I know this a specialist request :))
There are officially higher rated hotels in the area but they are closer to the shopping mall and also the main roads and must be very noisy and further from the main old city attractions also they treat you as a room number!!!! I was there and their service felt more like being some form of farm animal "Hello Mr Room 117!!!". I do not enjoy a hotel stay when they treat you like this.
Hotel Bristol is not 5 star but this is a benefit and not based on their quality. The reason it is a benefit is because they are still focused on customer improvement and do not, like 5 star hotels, believe their own status and they are human there and so very helpful. They are also not a Hotel that says it is a 4 Star hotel and then you arrive to a above average 2 star. They are 4 star and they deserve it.
I will be using them for all my future business trips.
A few helpful tips, their parking is great but becareful if you have a longer or over sized vehicle. Also a note to the Hotel maybe it would be better to place either an automatic trigger for the gate or reposition the bell for exiting vehicles as it is very difficult to press it from your car. However this is only a stupid niggle. Or for a small improvement those on long stays could be given a clicker pass :) just an idea from a lazy Irish Guy:
