4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2012

Agree with all the above comments - apartments are conveniently located in old building at end of main street, spacious and much better than outward appearance of building and courtyard would suggest. It would be best for young people sharing or families on a budget. The girl at reception was very helpful. Fans were provided in the apartments which was great as the weather was extremely hot. The only problem we had was parking, as the small number of spaces provided were taken. I had to get up at 7a.m to put money in the parking machine at the street at the back of the hotel. Despite this the car was clamped as I had managed to put in on the wrong side of the 'clearway' sign (end of parking space was not properly marked). The release fee was only €20 however and we were on our way in about twenty minutes. Recommended

This lodging is very close to the city center. It is across the major street which is located at the end of the pedestrian area. It is maybe 15 minutes walk from the train station. It was easy to find, with a sign outside the building, pointing us into an interior courtyard. We arrive early in the morning, and there was a sign directing us up to a business office within the same building. It was some sort of management company and they checked us in with no problems.
The rooms are not on the ground floor, so there were lots of steps to go up and doors to open leading up to the room, but we were given a set of keys to open everything and were instructed to pay at the checkin desk sometime when it was open during the next couple days.

The rooms (we had two) were extremely large. For 53 euro/night, our triple room was approx. 700 sq. feet, nicely furnished, with strong wifi. There was a bed on the lower level and a stairway leading up to a large loft with a large bed. The double room that we rented was similar. There were big windows built into the slanted roof, and the only downside was that a small bar/dance club in the inner courtyard was open late and we could hear it with the windows open.
I couldn't get the tv (satellite tv box) to work though.

The woman at the check in desk went above and beyond making calls to find us a very affordable rental car on very short notice.
Check-out involved dropping our keys in the dropbox as we left.

This is an extremely good value and I wouldn't consider looking for another lodging in the future. This was perfect.

The Colosseo Residence is situated at the bottom of the main City Centre area in Kosice. When we initially arrived on a Saturday, late-morning, the reception was closed (it does not work weekends) and there was a sign saying check-in was after 2pm. So this is worth noting if you are planning to arrive early. Returning at 2pm, we had to call a mobile number on a notice in reception and a friendly lady answered and came to check us in and show us to our rooms.

After this initial messing about, it was good to see that the apartments themselves were excellent - very large and well equipped with Satellite TV, WIFI and a fully kitted out kitchen. They were also spotlessly clean. The bathrooms were good and although it took some time to get hot, the shower was nice and powerful.

Despite being just off the main street, there was very little noise from outside and just a small amount from the surrounding rooms - nothing disturbing at all. There is a vast amount of security with around 5 different lockable doors and gates between the outside and your room!

One note of caution to anybody who is not fully able-bodied: The rooms are situated on the second floor of a old building and I would not recommend them for anyone who has problems with steps.

Overall though, lovely apartment and a great location - recommended.

My first impression wasn't very good, as it doesn't look pretty from the outside of the building. I was welcomed by very friendly receptionist and she took me to the room. There is a lot of steps and no lift, so it's not suitable for people with walking dificulties. The room is absolutely fantastic. Large apartment is well furbished, there's nice and clean bathroom, small kitchen area, living area and the bedroom upstairs of the apartment. There's breakfast available also. Rooms are clean, spacious and warm. The noise from the street didn't bother me at all. It's located in the city centre with good bus and tram connections and the Aupark shopping centre just across the road. I enjoyed my stay very much and I would recommend it. I will definately stay there again on my next visit in Kosice.

Situated on the upper floors of a courtyard style building & without a lift it is unsuitable for handicapped guests or those with limited mobility.
Nicely furnished and well designed, the apartments are very well equipped although it would have been a nice touch if a few tea bags, sachets of coffee etc were provided. Terrestrial and satellite TV is provided + a DVD player
Despite being a city centre location, close to trams etc, the apartment was quiet except that sound insulation between the apartments is not perfect. The newly opened Aupark Shopping Centre is over the road and the Hilton Hotel a two minute walk away.
Breakfast (served in a room on the first floor balcony) was generous but limited to three bread buns and a plate of cold meats and cheese together with a large glass of juice. A little more variety (musli, fruit etc) would be good. Having ordered coffee, I was surprised to be served a small espresso rather than the large cup or mug that I expected.
For business travellers not needing a bar and restaurant, the Colosseo is very good with a free Wi-fi facility and direct dial phones as well as a good sized, well lit dining/work table.
The apartment was spotlessly clean and the reception friendly.
I would happily stay there again.
