“Good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

Location :
Excellent. At the southern tip of the inner city. Public transportation right there.
Multi-level shopping plaza one short block away.

Nice and spacious reception area.
One computer next to the reception counter. Its use is free.
(The Slovak keyboard can be a challenge : I could not figue out how to get the Shift-number keys, to type the symbols, to work. Using just the letters and the numbers should not be a problem.)

Elevator is fairly small, 4 people max. Watch for the quickly closing door.

Room is of fair size. Night stand with reading lamp for each bed.
One table and two armchairs. Bed is O.K.
Décor is one small picture. Flat panel TV has 10 channels.
Large bathroom, with shower stall in the corner. Soap, body wash, Q-tips.
No hair dryer or facial tissues.
O.K. towels. Bathroom is completely tiled, up to the ceiling.
Definitely clean (both the room and the bathroom).
I did not see any „worn” or „faded” areas mentioned by some other reviewers (possibly the hotel was „refreshed” since some of the previous comments).

Breakfast is in the basement, self served from a long table.
Wide selection.
Juices, cereals, cheeses, cold cuts, two kinds of eggs, yoghurt, etc., etc.
Bread seemed to be whole wheat.
Coffee is from a Nescafé machine, the „push the button to select your kind” type.
It is all O.K., albeit not outstanding.

We were there with an organized tour, so did not separately pay for the room.
I checked the hotel’s website and it was offering its rooms for €49 a night (somewhat over $66). The hotel is a good deal at that price.

Room Tip: Tip : If you want a room that does not face the street (noise) ask for one that faces the back. Th...

I always stay in this hotel in case I have to take the early flight to Prague or Vienna.

The location is very good and is at walking distance from downtown.

The rooms are basic but clean.

The price/quality is very good. In case you want to pay a lot then take the Hilton next doors and you pay tripple for just sleeping.

the location is great. It is walking distance - 5 minutes - to the main street. It is in front of shooping center with resturants - across the road. The price is reasonable. We book through the internet - we had the big suite in the first floor at 59 euros per night - inclused beakfast The room is huge with comfortable bed and big place to sit. The only problem is the trum that begin at 5:00 in the morning and is very noisy. As we wake up early it did not affects us too much - but cosider this in your decesion. The receptiopn is open 24 hours and you can have wine whenever you wants. The breakfst is good. It is the the next block to the Hilton, but costs about 30%. So you need to decide if the noise from the Trum and Bus is value for the difference. The stuff is helpul - and speaks good English. We recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: corner suite - such we had - is very large - but noisy.

we stayed in this hotel for 3nights. It is in a central location (large shopping centre across the road). The hotel is quite dated and the rooms could do with modernising, however they were spacious. The reception is open 24hours and you can buy drink from there fizzy drinks/water, there is also a 24hr mcdonalds a 5minute walk away. I would recommend this hotel if you want a prime location and do not care about the decor. We parked outside the hotel for the 3nights and nothing was said about their car park or having to pay.

Room Tip: there are trams that run alongside the hotel therefore we did hear the trams if you had the windows...

When we chose the hotel, we have considered the various factors:
1. Proximity to the main street so that shopping and food will not be a problem
2. Near the start of Kosice Peace Marathon which is the highlight of our trip
3. Affordable rates

I'm glad to say that the hotel passed the three criterion of my selection. Not only is the hotel close to the main street, it is also close to the train station. Although we paid 4 euro for a very short drive from the train station to the hotel initially, we had no problem dragging our luggages back to the train station after we checked out. Good savings on our transportation.

The reception is helpful most of the time when we ask questions. At least, they also allowed us to check out at 4pm. Which hotel has been so generous to guests? With such generosity, we were able to shower after our marathon and still be able to roam the street before coming back to check out (if we had kept our luggages in the hotel room until 4pm).

Also before we decided our hotel, we wrote to the hotel to make reservations and ask some questions. I was delighted to receive quick response. That is a plus point for us.

The room itself is big and clean. The bathroom is ok as well. We would prefer a double bed rather than twin beds, nevertheless, we had no problem putting the two beds together side by side.

Breakfast wasn't fantastic at all though. It could be because we went down rather late. Anyway, it also mean we can have a more sumptous lunch after that. There are many nice restaurants around, so food is not a problem at all.

I was deciding between Doubletree hilton and Gloria Palac. I am sure the former will be better in all amenities but I eventually chose the latter. 50 Euro for a room is a great bargain, considering the two hotels are not much far away in locations. Should anyone be keen to go to Kosice Peace Marathon, I would recommend this hotel for the great price and location!

Room Tip: Good location. Value for money.

This hotel is in the heart of Kosice in the next block to the Hilton Hotel.
The front of house staff are extremely helpful, courteous and speak very good English.
The bar area is huge and ideal for business meetings over a drink. Comfortable furniture and efficient staff.
My bedroom was spacious and quiet with a good bathroom. A big weakness is that there was no desk or suitable table at which to sit and work. Also the lighting level was far too low and the only place where light levels were adequate for reading papers was under the bedside light. The receptionist told me that none of their rooms has a desk or work table.
A further weakness was that there was a woeful lack of convenient power sockets.
A plus is the free Wi-fi connection. My room was however at one end of the building and the signal was weak and intermittent.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back lack a view but are quiet

We stayed at the hotel for one night last weekend. On arrival we parked outside and checked in. The receptionist was very helpful, spoke good English and told us we could not park outside but were able to park around the back of the hotel for 10€ a night, which we did. The lobby area was really big, well furnished and very quiet. It gave a feeling of peace and quiet. We were on the 2nd floor in a corner suite and the room was really big and again, well furnished.

On opening the door you are greeted with a small entrance hall come cloakroom with the bathroom to your left. This had a corner bath with overhead shower, but no shower curtain. It was brightly lit and very clean. Towels were supplied and also 2 small soaps and 2 small bottles of body wash.

On entering the bedroom you are faced with a huge bed, soft carpets, a dressing table and around the corner to the left a seating area with 2 small chairs, a small sofa, a table, fridge and TV. Behind this was a large double wardrobe. The room itself was bright as it was on the corner of the hotel and had many windows.

We dropped our bags off and went out to town to sightsee, The receptionist gave us a map detailing the hotel location and where to walk to reach the main street of Kosice. It was very conveniently located, just around the corner from the main street.

At the end of the evening we went back to the hotel for a drink. It has a large bar area with reasonably priced drinks. Normally, hotel bar prices are extortionate but we did not find this the case at this hotel. The bar itself was very subdued, subtle lighting, low background music and very comfortable and relaxing. At just after 11pm we were told the bar was closing and asked to move to the lobby area which again had ample seating and was just as comfortable.

The bed itself was quite hard but not so we didn't have a good night sleep, my only negative is there was only one pillow each available, I checked the wardrobe but there were no more in there.

Breakfast the following morning was ample. Cheeses, hams, bread, cereals, coffee, a variety of teas, orange juice, scrambled egg with bacon, fried egg and hot dog sausages. As I have a wheat intolerance I took my own bread to toast. This was not a problem, the lady in attendance just plugged the toaster in and left me to it.

All in all a good experience which I would recommend to anyone. Keep an eye on the hotel website as they have special offers on and also check the location map on the website. There is a new building being erected right opposite the hotel and the roads leading to it have changed slightly, the website has a PDF outlining the route to take.

Room Tip: Try to avoid room 211, it was a gorgeous suite but right on the corner and very noisy early the foll...
