“Brand new business hotel - extraordinary space in Bratislava”

I have spent just one night in this hotel, just shortly after its opening in May 2013. As you can expect, everything in the hotel is new and stylish. Rooms are really comfortable and perfectly equiped. Outlook Bar & Lounge in the 13th floor and the view on city, which it allows through the huge windows, is simply marvelous. Just one little slip - solution of the bathroom, which is almost integrated with the rest of the room is not very good...not for a business hotel. But in whole picture - it is a great place.

It is very unfortunate that our specially designed, modern, and unique bathroom doors did not meet your personal taste. We have been complimented on the design by many other guests and are therefore sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with their functionality.

Like NSMKMelbourne we too spent 2 nights at the Lindner as part of a Viking River Cruise and our complaints are basically the same. The worst were the elevators which were a real problem when you're trying to get people checked out and on to a bus in good order. The restaurant was good and the food quality was very good. Being that the hotel is brand new, I expect given time it will improve.

As with two other reviewers, we used this hotel during a re-organised river cruise that turned into a coach tour. The strange door arrangement in the bathroom/toilet caused some amusement and may have saved a small amount on building costs but isn't a very good idea. The bed was comfortable once you got into it and we slept well, but it was a bit high for my wife who is not very tall. The lighting is the usual hotel lights-all-over-the-place-but-none-where-you-need-one arrangement. Lifts, and there were only three of them which caused a long queue at busy times, were dreadfully slow as was the service in the bar. I never found out thesecret of opening the window so had to use the air conditioning to keep the rom cool. It would be nice to have a mirror in the room so that the ladies could make up without having to use the bathroom.

The hotel has been open for only a month and it shows. The breakfast waitresses all seemed to be called 'Trainee' which may be a Slovakian name but one managed to rig the orange juice machine so it flooded part of the restaurant when some poor fellow traveller tried to use it. It may claim to be romantic as the single card key offered to couples forces them to stay together unless one is happy to sit in the dark while the other one goes off for an eternity to try to find space in one of the occasional elevators. The reception area smelt like a drain possibly due to the cleaning fluid (or old water) being used by the cleaner. However all this might be fixable in time at little cost but that leaves the issue of the bathroom doors. A victory for cleverness over common sense, they have tried to use the same door for the toilet and the exit near the door, while another door doubles as the shower door and an exit into the main bedroom. Consequently an unfortunate combination might allow you to view your partner on the porcelain. The opaque glass means surreptitious visits in the middle of the night will flood the bedroom with light. There also appears to be a shortage of double beds. Singletons and perverts with time on their hands will appreciate this hotel; others be warned. But it will get better.... surely?

Room Tip: Views at the back are good. Book early for a double room (if there are any)

It is with utter concern that I read about the dissatisfaction with your stay at our newly opened property.

It is true that due to our new opening we still have some trainees in our Restaurant that are momentarily still training and improving their service skills. With regards to the juice machine, I do apologize for the malfunctioning which you encountered. We will double check the machine and promise improvement for the future.

All our guest that are staying in our rooms with double occupancy receive two keycards. I sincerely apologize that this did not happen in your case automatically, we do however provide additional keycards upon request anytime and would have been happy to offer the same service to you during your stay.

We are already in the process of improving the unpleasant smell at Reception you experienced, thank you very much for your feedback.

It is very unfortunate that our specially designed, modern, and unique bathroom doors did not meet your personal taste. We have been complimented on the design by many other guests and are therefore sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with their functionality.

Regarding your comment about the double beds, we are constantly trying to meet the requirements of all our guests and would have been happy to offer you another room with a double bed had we been consulted during your stay.

We stayed in this brand new hotel for two nights as part of a Viking River Cruise trip that has turned into a bus tour due to the floods on the Danube.

The reception staff were efficient and helpful but when we got to our room it was uncomfortably warm with the thermostat showing 27 deg F. When I tried to reduce the temperature the system told me that remote adjustment of temperature was not possible due to central control.

We found that the window could be opened and so we arranged for some natural air conditioning.

The beds were covered with think duvets. I really do not understand the trend for hotels to provide bed covers which are designed to keep eskimos warm in the middle of winter.

Needless to say we had an uncomfortable night.

The hotel has three elevators which must be the slowest in the World. After waiting for what seemed an eternity, one of the elevators arrived on the 9th floor to take us to the breakfast restaurant on the third floor. The lift stopped on every floor even though there was nobody waiting. Apparently one needs to use the security key card to get the lift to go straight to the requested floor. I have never heard of that before.

The buffet breakfast was quite good except the coffee machine was not working for the two days we were there.

All in all, I think this hotel needs some time to "bed in" before it becomes a place worth recommending but it may well improve as time goes on.

Room Tip: Make sure the room is cool and/or the temperature has been set properly.

We are sorry to hear about the dissatisfaction with your recent stay.

With regards to the air conditioning, each guest is able to control the temperature via the adjustment box in the room. However, it might not have been clear for you how to decrease the temperature correctly. We are momentarily printing instructions for each room so in the future each guest can easily decrease the temperature individually. Our Reception is at your disposal anytime and would have happily explained the functionality to you personally during your stay.

The duvets we provide follow European standard. We do apologize if they were not meeting your personal preferences. In this case we usually provide our guests with extra sheets (without duvets) should they be too warm during the night.
