The Radisson Blu Bratislava is an historic hotel in the centre of the Slovak capital. It is an imposing but attractive building on the edge of a large, busy square. Inside the hotel is clean and well presented. I was in a "Business Class" room, 305, which seemed to signify having a view and a Nespresso machine and little else!! The room itself was spacious and had a good working area and comfortable bed. A flat screen TV has a reasonable range of channels, including CNN and BBC World. The bathroom was also large, but watch out as the shower screen doesn't meet the wall, so water ends up on the floor. The room looked out onto the square, so there is some noise at night, plus you notice the trams from the moment they start running at about 0530 in the morning!
Breakfast was passable, I had hot food on one day only but found the pork sausages available rubbery and unpleasant. However there is a good enough choice of breads, cereals, yogurts, salads, meats and cheese, so everyone will find something. The restaurant breakfast is served in is bright and airy.
The staff were all polite and friendly, and when I asked where the Business Centre was on my last day, I was not merely pointed in the direction, but actually taken there!
Location-wise, the hotel is well positioned in the Old Town. Bratislava is a small city and the Old Town represents the bulk of the tourist element. I was able to walk around several times and at all times felt safe and comfortable. There is a huge choice of cafes, restaurants and bars in walking distance of the hotel and, if you hanker for something familiar, a McDonalds just across the square! There are also pleasant walks along the bank of the Danube, the conference I was attending was just a 15 minute walk along this route. About another 15 mins to the east is a large, modern shopping centre, Eurovea, with a range of shops, (including M&S!) restaurants and cinema.
If you wish to travel further afield, the tram system is located adjacent to the hotel, there are alos river cruises and a boat link to Vienna on the Danube.
Overall, I'd be very happy to stay in this hotel again.
