“A hot time in Bratislava”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2013

We had a very nice stay at Marrol's. Our (basic) room was comfortable, but on the small side. Our welcome drink never materialized, but otherwise all the service staff were excellent and the breakfast was indeed outstanding.

We were in town just after Bratislava's record-breaking heat wave, but the hotel's climate control still could not cope with the weather. Our room never got below 25.5 Celsius, which was too stuffy to sleep comfortably. I'm sure the hotel is cozy in the fall, winter and spring, but it does not seem built to keep up with the hot central European summer.

The hotel was full every night of our stay, and this made the place feel crowded. Perhaps a larger room would have balanced this out, but when your room is crowded, the public spaces are crowded, and the front desk is almost always busy, the atmosphere becomes a bit less romantic than we were hoping for.

This is a very nice hotel with quality touches everywhere. Public spaces are especially beautiful and stylish. Details in the room are high quality, from the bathroom fixtures to the toiletries. Desk service is very friendly and helpful. Great location close to the river and close to everything in the Old Town. Room is a little on the small side, but nice quality of everything makes up for that.

Only spent one night there in March 2013. Was intrigued by the unique.furnishings , this is NOT a cookie cutter type hotel. We had 2 beds, and though comfortable, the room was rather small, though very well appointed. The bathroom was also small but had great towels, toiletries and a WONDERFUL showerhead, and tub.

Complimentary breakfast downstairs was tasty, not too many choices, but more than adequate.

Staff was exceptional and great with tips on what to see and how to get there.

Location is good, on a quiet side street a short walk to old town.

Arrived by boat from Vienna (we can recommend this) and walked to the hotel. From the moment we arrived the staff and facilities exceeded all expectations. From the heatwave outside we were met with tranquillity. Staff welcoming and knowledgeable and able to answer all our questions. The rooms are a bit smaller than average but was appointed to a very high level. With the heat-wave the fast flow shower was a real treat. Breakfast was served in a beautiful dining room - I particularly liked their ban on mobile 'phones in the room (other places please take note). This hotel rightly deserves it's high rating - would love to stay there again.

Arrived by train from Vienna taking bus 13 to within 100 yds of hotel. Greeted with a five star welcome, it was 40 degrees during the day all weekend so chilled fruit juice on arrival was much appreciated. Room was good and very well equipped with range of tv channels, Bose radio, wi-fi included, safe and free use of mini bar, plus free bottled water on the summer terrace.
Bathroom good and with a range of soaps etc. Had the tourist dinner one evening good, well prepared food at a reasonable price c€24 but the portions were far too small for a traveller with an appetite. A small mini complaint in an otherwise great place. Staff were all very helpful and made a point of saying hello each time we crossed paths etc.

Highly recommended and would be delighted to stay here again.

I chose this hotel because of the great location (just by the old town and the river) and because of the welcoming design, but when I checked in, the hotel surprised me with the very helpful staff, the well equipped room - I had every toiletry I may need, slippers, complimentary minibar and even iron&ironing board - when on business trip these details are important-, and the cozy room. I can't complain one bit, I would definitely stay there again!
