“The little things.....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

The Hotel Saffron is located 10-15 minutes walk from both the main station and the old town: 2 stops on the tram to the latter. It has no obvious signage on the street so is a little difficult to find. It's down the alleyway next to Subway! This leads to a large modern complex that looks good. CHeck in took an absolute age, could have had a pint in the time it took to issue a key card.

Rooms are well furnished. I booked for 1 person and they gave me a twin room with only 1 single bed made up. I did NOT appreciate that. Typical central European rubbish pillows. The bathroom has no shower as such. A shower head is located just above the bath tub. No idea how you're supposed to use it but a sitting down shower is counter-intuitive.

No instructions on how to use the air-con. If indeed the random dials even were aircon!

Breakfast is well presented with plenty of choice in a large dining hall. This was a really pleasant room to use with lots of space. They did a good job of keeping breakfast items warm where other hotels let them go cold.

In summary, a modern hotel with lots of potential. Sort out the service issues like lengthy check in and silly shower design, and the distance to the town centre would be tolerable.

Room Tip: Ensure there is an appropriate number of beds!

A good 4-star hotel. A save parking for the car and a correct room. The hotel looks very new and clean. The breakfast is good, without being exceptional. One big minus point for us: there was no shower(curtain) in the room (we had). Overall a nice experience for a correct price.

Room Tip: Ask for a double bed if you want one and inform for a room with a shower. There is enough parking sp...

Good, central location in Bratislava, helpful and welcoming staff at the fron desk, quite modern property. My room was spaciouss and furniture looks like new, cleanlines very good, nice bathroom. Free Wifi but sometimes very slow. The breakfast was OK but the choice of food quite poor and basic. Generally it's good choice for business travellers.

A hotel of new construction, 15mins walk from the old town.
Rooms are clean, functional but essential, principally suited for business guests.

Buffet breakfast had plenty but no "croissant" or other things of the tipical italian / french brekfast. There is fresh fruit and it is a good point.

There is also a little fitness room, at 6th floor, with also a sauna (!), opened only 8-22.

Room Tip: Specify if you want shower or bathtube, they've both type of rooms.

A newish hotel 15mins walk from the old town, makes a good base but more suited to the business traveller as the rooms lacked any kind of homeliness. Showering required climbing into the bath and there was no grab rail or anti slip surface nor water screen, so I wouldn't recommend a standard room to anyone with mobility issues. Buffet breakfast had plenty but lacked imagination.

Nice big rooms. The cleaning was perfect! A little fitness room and a sauna on the top floor. We stayed at 5th. floor and had some view over the city. The service in the reception was very kindly.
I was happily surprised that they had soya milk when I asked for it at the breakfast (I do not tolerate milk from cows). Unfortunately they didn't supply with a new one, when it was empty, and I had to stick to only bread instead of the muesli. And by the way...don't pick up the soya milk in the fridge yourself. The waiter will kill you with his eyes if you do that. You have to wait (often for some time) until a waiter gives it to you.
We stayed at the hotel for one week.

This is a very good value for money hotel. It's fairly new although it feels a little sterile.

Good sized rooms, clean and comfortable and the air-conditioning really works for a change.

Super fast Wifi, upload is as fast as downloading.

Parking 8 Euros per day but finding the car park is tricky. Check it out on google before you go or you may end up driving around the block a few times.

Easy 15 walk to the city centre although you could take a tram if you wished.

Very friendly and helpful staff although some language difficulties, so take care.

Best included breakfast we have had on a three week trip in europe. Plenty of choice, and hot food too.

Very pleased and would come back again.
