“Great Brewery Beer Garden in Stare Mesto”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2014

Although there were other more well-known, touristy places, we picked up the info for this at the hotel reception, located it in Dunajska (somewhere around the back of Tesco's, not the most exotic place! on the edge of Stare Mesto) and found it full of locals and French people watching a World Cup match and getting stuck into excellent beer and good, hearty food. Some people were physically shocked at the portions, given that the prices, in euros, were so low!
The service was enthusiastic with a sense of humour becoming of a brewery, and you had to wait mere seconds to get a new beer after the last one evaporated! Everyone was having a good time! The bar and restaurant inside looked great, too, but it was a steaming hot evening so the garden was most welcoming. Recommended for the micro-brewed dark beer! Recommended!
Na zdravie!

“Good for this price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

We have visited the beergarden in Dunajska street. There were a lot of locals, which means, that this place will be not bad. We orderer Caesar salad and potato dumplings with meat. Food was good, beer was also good, but I would like to taste more special beers than light and dark beer.

“Good food and beer”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

Kind of trendy, but with very good (own brewed) beer and decent food. Tried to book up repeatedly but got no reply - but had no trouble getting a seat - it was very busy, but is huge. Fun to visit - it is bustling and noisy, the food was also decent, and there are lots of traditional dishes to try. I had the cheese selection and the excellent pork crackling spread on toast. Food is well priced and portions are hefty

“Excellent beer, goulash to improve”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2014

Firstly, the food.
I had smoked tongue as a starter. I decided to venture in this dish as I never tried tongue before. When the dish came, the presentation was good, and the taste of the thin tongue strips was very good as well. A strong flavour, but it can be mellowed up with the sauce which comes with it, which is good as well.
I then took a goulash. The serving size itself was quite reasonable, but the goulash was drenched in oil and grease. I could see the oil floating around. Despite that, the taste was good anyway. However, it quickly filled me up.
The potato salad I took as a side was good as well. Nothing out of the ordinary, but it's just a potato salad in the end.
I took the homebrewed beer with my meal. It was really good and with a good fresh aftertaste. Definitely one of the best beers I've ever tried.

Then, the service. I was served by a waitress who was nice and professional, but I felt like she was being so just because it was her job. However, it was my first time in Slovakia, and so I am not quite sure about their habits. But I have nothing negative to say about her, she was always serving fast and nicely.

As a conclusion, come here if you want to have a big dinner. It's not light food (the goulash, at least, it isn't), but the taste is good and it's good value for money.

“definitely worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2014

Went here after checking out Tripadvisor and also being recommended by our hotel. The food was great and v well priced. We shared the cheese plate to start (enjoyed all but one of the cheeses), had duck leg with ham dumplings for main. Starter prob wasn't even necessary as portions were so huge. Also great range of beer and again really well priced. Definitely recommended.
