“Hotel Magyar Kiraly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2012

The exterior of the hotel is nice, looks very impresive from the outside. The inside is quite ok also.
The rooms I had has been quite generous in regard to space, the overall standard is rather high.
Breakfast is perhaps a little boring and the choices are slightly on the minimum side, the basic is there.

On arrival at the hotel it does not look anything like the website, maybe i was looking at the wrong website. The Hotel is clean the room was nice , but the bat tub was so small you were cruched up in it. they would have been better off just having a shower.

The room had a mini bar that had a few cheap drinks in, the TV was hard to work , but once you got the langauge into english it became clear. There was 22 channels to choose from but non in english, but this was no great problem. Free wifi in the restraunt area was a bonus,

The hotel was clean , the staff were friendly, but the bar appeared to close at random times. One night 30 of us returned Balaton to find the hotel bar closed at 10pm , so some of the party had to venture out into town to get a beer.

The restaraunt & food was not good, we had to wait almost 2 hours for our food to arrive & then it was poor at best. Hungary is a strange place for food, some of the combinations are bizarre such as Cauliflower & Brocolli with Garlic sausage for breakfast, cold chicken with olive ice cream with cabbage for main course, but taking the prize must be dessert ! pasta with cottage cheese & frizzled bacon.

Would i stay there again : Yes

Would I eat there again : No

But for 55 euros a night it was good

Budapest is well worth seeing as well as lake balaton !

Room Tip: Don't book a single room go for a double much larger

I travel to Hungary quite often on business, two nights per trip maximum. I have stayed at this hotel several times. I find the staff and service to be very good (it helps if you speak German as some of the staff speak only broken English, we are in their country after all). The hotel has been refurbished to a high standard. Breakfast is very good, excellent choice. I had dinner at the hotel one evening due to late arrival, the food and service was excellent. I make a point of staying here every time I visit the area.Once they have your details from your first visit, internet booking and checking in is very easy. The location is central, a couple of minutes walk to some good bars and restaurants.

Room Tip: Standard rooma are very good, superior rooms are excellent.

The hotel was totally rebuilt in 2010. Nice rooms, good looking restaurant, but poor service, We spent there the last two days of 2011. There was a good party at new years eve. The music was excellent, but the food, and the service was bad.

An old hotel that had been complety rennovated from top to bottom. The rooms were very nice and clean. The hotel is located very near to the central "old town" district so there is a lot to see and do nearby the hotel. There are very nice meeting room facilities here and can be a great location for a company function. Don't forget to go down to the basement and see the wine cellar.

This is the best hotel in Szekesfehervar - and the most expensive. Rooms are well appointed,. and comfortable, though as we only stayed for 1 night, we did not use the full facilities available. Buffet breakfast was good, and though some staff didnt speak much English, it was easy to muddle through.

What a beautiful hotel, in the heart of Szekesfehervar! We were looking for a conference hotel and unfortunately found this one much too late to book. The rooms were all very new and smelled great. The furnishing was very masculine, with leather, dark woods and rich mahogonies. It is located right on the walking street as well. The building is a historical landmark and although the inside was kept quite modern it still retained some of the historical qualities. I really enjoyed my stay here; the staff were all very professional, the rooms lovely and the food tasty. My only complaint would have been that we didn't have great service in the bar. It seems their bartender also doubles as something else.
