“Under construction”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

A real knight castle, but under construction, so not able to get it.
View is magnificent and as it is in the almost downtown of Miskolc, there are a lot to see around the castle as well.

“Diosgyyor castle”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

We stopped by for a few minutes to view the ruins of this castle. very impresive, and wished we had more time to tour. Ruins plus the adjacent restored village very representative of early hunhary communities

“Renaissance Cavalcade - excellent event”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2012

Been in Diosgyor Castle at the end of may,2012 and by chance we found ourselves in the middle of medieval festival. Ticket around 4 euro, but worth every penny even if we were there 3-4 hours. Excellent event, pity we didn't understood Hungarian as a moderator was explaining all the time. Traditional craftsmen - wood, metal, linen, leather -, traditional cuisine in decent tents and very affordable, medieval parade with king and queen's court all actors dressed in medieval outfits, games with knight swords fights, archers contest - excellent mongol inspired outfits, medieval music&dance, horse stunts, hunting with eagle and owl, games for kids aso.
The most I've liked the blacksmith: he presented medieval armors, swords, spires, crests/helmets etc and actually you could try everything, in fact i have tried a metal link dress and a helmet and that were HEAVY!!!, could hardly move rather fight in them.

The tower's roof panorama worth all the stairs up and down, and the narrow stairway.
Fully recommend to spend your time!

“From era of ancient lords”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2012

If you like the middle age atmosphere, this will your place. I visited ab. 5 times in my life but like to a time machine, I like return. The partly restored ruins of medieval Diosgyor castle surrounded by small houses. This is 500 meters from the public transport, Parking place next to the Castle. At the main gate a romantic small promenade where you can find a cosy restaurant, confectionery seller, souvenir kiosk. About 100 meters to the center in the "Kisgergely Cukraszda" wide variety of ice creams (up to 40!), the best in the town. There are several exhibitions in the castle: archaeological findings in the area of a castle and the old Pauline monastery, historical weapons and waxworks scenes. From the tower great sight to the hills and the town. The castle has 100 meter diameter, you can discover in one hour, but you must to spend more time because of touchy details (e.g. flowers on the cliffs, historical cannon, original fireplace, etc.)

In the summer almost all weekend all-day family program in the market place of the castle for couples, family, and folk fans. The events built up on folk concerts, historical market and workshops, medieval weapon/ fight demonstrations, open-air folk-dance houses, fireworks in the night, etc.

Normally in the main season guides in English/German/Polish languages.
Open from May to end of september, days open from 9am to 17pm. The ticket prices between 2-4 Euros. For disabled people some area not accessible.
