“Owner is so nice and helpful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2010

This is a great little B&B on a quiet street that is an easy walk to city center. We were there during a quiet period in the middle of the week and the owner was great in terms of orienting us upon our arrival and giving us suggestions for what to do around Eger and beyond. Rooms are basic and not fancy.

I've stayed at the Hotel Romantik at least three different times. Each time was marked by friendly service, the joy of being in the swee gaden area, and clean and pleasant rooms. The breakfast buffet was pretty standard, but the hotel is so friendly, as someone else pointed out it's like staying with friends. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others, and have. It's a charming European experience.

Cute hotel seriously disappointed us when we returned late at night to our deluxe room (90€, room no. 20) after an evening of wine tasting in the valley to find the floor was crawling with thousands of ants!!! The housekeeper's suggested solution was BUG SPRAY... Um NO, we are not going to sleep in a room full of poisonous gas and dead bugs!!! They moved us to a much smaller room (24), and when we checked out this morning and asked the man at reception if he knew about our experience, he said yes, sure... And proceeded to charge us the full rate for the room we had initially booked, offered absolutely ZERO in the way of apology (not even a grunt of sympathy!!) and then had the nerve to ask us if we enjoyed it!!!!!!!

We chose a garden room which opens to a small garden with pond, and flowers. The breakfast room is cleverly designed with appealing colors. Nice breakfast with cereals, fruit, egg, cheese, etc.Staff very accomodating. We parked our rental car free across the street for 2 days and never moved it.. Hotel is abt. 2 blks from the main walking street of town and easy to get to the main square, the castle, etc. I never noticed any noise here but we were on the back with an outside entrance. Internet with computer available in the lobby free.Rooms clean. A perfect place for us.

We arrived to be met by exceptionally friendly staff and the Hotel Manager, Istvan. We had a booking for 2 double rooms and they personally showed us a range of room options for our stay. They have just completed 5 new room in the loft of the hotel and we were the first to use them. While there are still a couple of rooms and stairwells that require some finishing touches, the 2 rooms we had were fantastic - beautifully decorated, comfy beds, air conditioning, a small fridge, cable TV and one room even had a balcony. For a 3 star room, it definitely felt 4 star. The staff at this hotel are ever helpful, ever smiling and take pride in everything they do. Breakfast is a little basic and that was probably more 2 star than 3 star. Being just 400m from the old town, this is a good option for Eger.

Quiet, friendly and helpful owner, great breakfast, secure parking, real close to central area. The small garden area behind the hotel is most pleasant. We give this hotel a 5 out of a 5.

The hotel is located close to the Eger central bus station as well as the main city street. We were placed in a garden view room faced blossoming trees - really fantastic view. Though the inner yard was small it was rather neat. Our room was a bit cold because it was always in shadow but we didn't spend much time in it. Besides we liked the decoration - nothing vulgar and everything necessary. I only didn't like leaking toilet but it was repared after I told about it to the hotel manager Istvan. The hotel staff behaved very friendly, all the necessary information was at the reception. Besides It was possible to use Internet free of charge.
Food selection is pretty standard - cold meats, cheese, cereals, pastries, a variety of spreads, tea, coffee and juice, I would recommend the hotel staff to serve not only cold but also hot milk. And more fruits if possible.
Overall, the hotel was nice - clean, cozy and well equipped. It'd be great as a stopover, but not for more than 3 -4 nights because the town itself is most suitable either for retired people or for families with little children. However, I can advise you to stay at the Romantik Hotel (if you choose garden view).
