So, the church itself is I think on the prettier side for a church, but it's not anything truly spectacular. What I liked was actually the wine cellars beneath the church--it's not an activity listed here on tripadvisor, and I almost didn't find it when I was in Eger, but to the right of the stairs up to the main entrance to this church is a small door that is the entrance to the tours of the Eger wine cellars. They leave every hour on the hour (and it lasts about an hour), and they are equipped to deal with foreign tourists. They have booklets in foreign languages to read on the tour if the other people are all Hungarian (as was the case with mine), but my guide was super-cool and spoke great English, and he was always courteous enough to elaborate and translate a lot of his speech for me. The cellars themselves were fascinating--absolutely huge, a little labyrinth there under the city--and the information was interesting too--part science, part wine info, part Hungarian culture and history. This really is a hidden gem, and it's a shame it doesn't have its own page here, because anyone who goes to Eger should check this out.
