“A good quality hotel with friendly and helpful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

This was my third stay at Divinus hotel in Debrecen. Each time I see them growing. I know for example the first time I stayed here they had issues with the WiFi coverage. They take feedback seriously and it was resolved the next visit.
I must by said that the personal is extremely friendly and helpful without over-act. No question is strange to them.
Rooms are comfortable and clean. Personally I am an easy sleeper, but some of you who are more difficult sleepers might hear some noise of the minibar in your room.
For breakfast you have plenty of choices, fresh and the best of all: they have a cook available who will prepare that little extra you desire.
Just outside of the hotel you have the tram line who will bring you in a couple of minutes to the city center.

I stayed here for 3 nights in April and really enjoyed the property. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable and the bed was just right (not too soft). The location is great as it is right by a University with a pretty park area, pond and statues - as well as a Thermal Bath club across the street. It is also across the street from the Tram/Bus that completes a loop and takes you into downtown. I enjoyed the breakfast each morning, and found the staff pleasant and helpful. The front desk was very responsive when I asked for my laundry when concerned it would be ready too late for my checkout. There were a bunch of coworkers on property as well, and everyone enjoyed their experience. Great job Divinus! The La Palma restaurant across the street is very good!

I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel's accommodations. The rooms and common areas were all well maintained. Our room was well appointed and the bath was very adequate. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The underground parking was convenient and the location was central to visiting family in the area.

By European standards, I wouldn't classify the Divinus as a Five Star Hotel. I'd say it's more somewhere between Three and Four Star, more towards Three really. We had a suite booked and it was spacious and fairly well decorated, albeit, quite old fashioned feel. For some reason, they keep the corridors very dimly lit and it takes a minute for your eyes to adjust when you get out of the lift to your floor.

The bed in our room was pretty big, however it was very hard and if you're not a fan of these, it might not be for you.

The restaurant was disappointing, upon my first choice of their 'big steak' I was told they have 'discontinued' it. I ordered another steak instead. The solitary waiter, wasn't attentive at all and after dumping the food with us, we didn't see him again - despite the Restaurant being empty apart from us. Well, not until we got up to leave and we hadn't settled the bill, he then sprang into life to get me to sign and add the meal to my room bill.

Breakfast buffet was very sparse also and we had to ask the waiter for several items that were missing, including tea bags. We found out afterwards that you can order an omelette from the chef - who is supposed to be in attendance, who I think we did see, well there was a chap with a chef's hat on sitting in a corner.

Overall, it's a nice enough place - just don't expect a real five star and don't eat in the restaurant.

The divinus is probably the best hotel in debrecen. The hotel proudly shows all sorts of certificates in the lobby stating that it is the only 5 star hotel in east hungary... i thought they might have gotten this grading a bit easy. Don't get me wrong, the hotel is nice, rooms a spacious and multiple services are offered.. but... still not a 5 star. The restaurant offers very good local cuisine and the breakfast was really good. There is a fitness center to keep you moving while traveling for work. A big plus for this hotel is that the breakfast and internet were included in the price. The hotel is a bit in the outskirts of the city, but very close to the university (if that's where you are heading).
Funny fact... in the hotel directory... there was a section about extra pillows. according to the directory, the pillows can come in all types of sizes and the hotel accepts various credit cards...
could the urban legend be true??

Hotel Divinus offers indeed premium conditions for your stay in Debrecen. The good location, the nice architecture and interior design are all assets of this stylish hotel. The rooms are cozy and bear all the necessary features of a 5* hotel. The wooden furniture seems to be of the expensive and choosy type. The bath has a great design.
The breakfast had a good variety, actually it was perfect! Compensating for the extreme calorie intake is easily manageable either in the hotel’s high standard gym offering a wide range of quality fitness equipments, or in the 25 meter swimming pool. Going for a nice jog is just as easy as the “Nagyerdő” park is a few steps away. We have mostly been driving to the very heart of the city to the “Nagytemplom”, though it seemed to be within walking distance and also approachable by tram as a stop is just at the hotel.
The spa area seems to be a different world from the rest of the hotel and not too much up to high standards. It lacks all style and creativity that could create a vivid spa experience. Divinus offers besides the obligatory such as a small pool with thermal water, a lazy jacuzzi and four saunas (one of them OoO) a very good swimming pool. If one would be in search for a five (or even a four) star spa experience Divinus is not the best choice.
The hotel has a good chance to fully deserve those proudly worn, a little too many stars with some effort to make the spa area grown up to the standards. An easy start with sauna programs and the reencoding of the jacuzzi software could be spectacular first steps towards perfection.

i stay in February 2013 in the Hotel . Claim to be a 5 start but we can not compare this structure with the usual 5 star hotels like Kempinsky Hyatt and so on .
Is a good Hotel for the town , probably a good structure for meeting but nothing more . We arrived at 10,10 PM but the restaurant close a 10,00 was possible to get anly a horrible sandwich , some people are kind other not acceptable , looks that there is no direction but each one works according his own personal idea . The price paid 95 Eu is reasonble . The breakfast is poor like choice and quality , the general feeling is similar to an old Holiday Inn .
