“Good place to hang out!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

The most famous ruinpub of Budapest, and that's easy to see. You will only see tourists here, but I don't care. The atmosphere is great, you can get all kinds of food and drinks and it's really fun to walk through the different areas.
A must-go in Budapest! And if you don't like the pack of tourists, then some other ruinpubs a very close

“BEST PLACE FOR A BEER”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2013

I think this is the best place for taking a beer in Budapest in August. They served you the beer really cold when you are feeling 40 degrees in your body so you really thanks that. The structure of the bar is incredible and very original, it's like you are in ruins bar but they have really nice places to have a rest, like half car, or a large banch.
I really recommend to see the route of the ruins bars but I if you can choose just one, choose Szimpla Kert.

“Definitely worth checking out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

A cool, laid back atmosphere, with a pretty unique decor. It seemed like it was mostly full of North Americans when were there, about midnight-2am on a Saturday. It was jam packed, but the wait for drinks isn't bad, and there's a great mixture of people, I'd say ranging from freshly graduated backpackers, to older business guys.

It's worth popping in for a drink, and then you can decide if it's your vibe and you want to stay longer. There's no cover charge, so you have nothing to lose!

“Chilled as ever but more popular”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

Had to return to Szimpla after 2 year absence from Hungary to check it out for changes. Few new odd bits of furniture added to the collection but now they also sell their own beer at 550 HUF which is smoother than the Dreher (600HUF).

Busier than on last visit but adds to the atmosphere and its popularity seems to have revived Kacinzky utca in which it resides.

Remains a must do when in Budapest.
