“Average food. Average value.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013 via mobile

Stopped in here with my husband on a rainy day for lunch after reading some reviews. I had chicken schnitzel which was nice if pretty bland, could have done with a sauce. My husband had a goose dish with beans. There were an abundance of beans and only a wee bit of goose meat. Service was ok with staff regularly checking on you, however I was handed the dessert menu and only minutes later asked if I had decided, I had to remind them that my husband was still in the toilet and hasn't even seen the menu yet!

For two mains and two drinks it came to about £20 so you could have gotten better value elsewhere. On the plus side we were sat next to a radiator over which we put all our soggy clothes to dry from the rain!

“lovely way to sample Hungarian cusine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013 via mobile

Enjoyed a lovely evening here during recent Budapest stay. The restaurant was full but service was spot on. We opted to have the 15 euro set menu and were not disappointed. simple local food well cooked .

“A wonderful, memorable evening”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

We booked for the Friday night special event - a fixed menu 3-course meal with a 1 hour klezmer concert for the absurdly-low price of 5500ft (19 euros). We were treated to a glass of sparkling wine and the in-house pianist is a wonder - funny and with a seemingly limitless store of songs committed to memory. The highlight was the concert by the klezmer band Sabbathsong which was truly excellent. The food afterwards was plain (hummus, duck breast with mash and red cabbage, strudel) but well-cooked and perfectly adequate. And despite the fact that the ticket involved a fixed menu they managed to accomodate my vegan partner. Indeed, all the staff were very friendly despite being very busy and the atmosphere was very lively: yes, there were tourists but also a good mix of locals.
A memorable Friday evening.

“New (to me), delicious and good value dining experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

Stumbled over Spinoza one afternoon and returned for dinner. We both had different types of goose which we would never have tried elsewhere. Both were very excellent. The accompanying side dishes were also very unusual. Three courses each with a few beers and a couple of glasses of wine came to around 14000 HUF. Friendly and attentive waiters. Our table on the balcony gave us a view of all that was going on below including the wonderfully talented pianist. Highly recommended.
