“Good food avarage service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

We had a dinner at the restaurant.
Positive:
All food taste delicious
Great location

Areas to improve:
More smoking tables
Management should focus on the customer service instead of socializing with special guests in the peak time. They should help to staff instead of chating.
Waiters should be charged for the same table, we had several serving us.
After removing main course plate our waiter lost interest to offer or ask if we wish to have anything else. Shame as the food is great and at the beggining the service was good but after was gwtting busy was not enough man power. With better management could be organized better.

Excellent variety of sushi, loved it. The wine selection was also very good and prices were reasonable.

“Asian cousine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2012

Fancy restaurant in a posh neighborhood. It would not be my first choice when visiting Budapest - they do not run a Hungarian kitchen - but if you like Asian couise (Thai, Japanese including Sushi etc.) it is a good choice.

“Strange Sushi...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012 via mobile

I've never seen Sushi like this. Slices of maki couldn't fit in my mouth. Slices of sashimi looked like steak and i had to ask to slice each into 3!!!! Never again...

“Sushi on Danube”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

The place is too spacy, even hall-like, and too cold for a proper Japanese restaurant. Modern. Location is perfect, facing Buda hill through the glass walls from the other bank of Danube. Forget about parking, but taxis actually wait outside once you leave. Bathrooms could be better for a restaurant on a relatively high level.

Service very good and friendly, regularly checking your glass. Wine list acceptable, even with some foreign vintage wines at formidable prices; e.g., Sassicia 2006 for 120 EUR. Would expect more dry furmints and harslevelus, however.

I now usually go for Kyoto bento, a perfect one hour dinner all in all. A meal of tempura, sushi, sashimi and noodles. And miso, of course. Nothing sensational, but smoothly prepared, if not really authentic. A well deserved 12 on a 1 to 20 scale for culinary effort.

Prices are fair. Not cheap, either for a Japanese restaurant or for Budapest. But I keep coming, it is refreshing to eat something good & light where most local restaurants serve the heavy traditional Hungarian cuisine with very varying success. Tourists still like these... Alas, once by far the best in the neighborhood, Lou-Lou (French) no longer exists.
