“Excellent Location”

Well located on the Pest side to get to any site of interest. Room was our least favorite for our travels through Eastern Europe. Staff was helpful. Breakfast was very good. We'd stay there again but request a different room.

Room Tip: Don't take any room that ends in 01.

We stayed for 4 night in the Carat Hotel. The location of the hotel is terrific. See the previous review for info on the metro. The A/C was very nice after touing during the day. The room was large for a European hotel, but small for an American hotel. There wasn't really any place to sit other than on the bed. But the bed was very comfortable. I would recommend a room to the back of the hotel. We were at the front and we found that the college age kids come to this part of town to party. We heard them every night yelling and laughing. We were tired enough that it didn't really affect our sleep too much. The breakfast was fine. It was pretty much the same every day, but they provided hot and cold items and plenty of it. No complaints.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back of the hotel.

I stayed in this hotel for 9 days in August 2012. Great location in central Budapest-close to a main transport centre for bus, metro and tram. Lots of restaurants in area and you can walk to many main tourist sights. Clean small room with free WIFI and TV. Only two TV channels in English though-BBC World News and CNN. Good breakfast buffet with hot and cold selections-can fill up and not have to eat again for hours. 24 hour grocery store 1/2 block away.

Helpful front desk staff. Shuttle service to airport available.

Good price for value. I would stay again.

Read lots about this Hotel before we went, good and bad. I must say that our stay from sept6 to 9th was brilliant. We can't fault this Hotel, perfect location, breakfast caters for all tastes and Nationalities. The Hotel bar shut at 10pm which i found a little strange, but when you have lots of bars within yards and can see why. Turn right coming out and its the Deak Ferenc square and the city centre and the superb Vaci utca, a street with everything. Turn left coming out and walk uo Kiraly utca and there's lots of bars, the Queens( food great), Pop always full and go in the courtyard and the Pointer pub and many more in here. Walk all way up Kiraly utca and there's loads of life. We came with an open mind about Budapest and really loved our time there, can recommend it for all ages.......beautiful city. Thanks.

Room Tip: we overlooked the back and was quiet, don't know about the front rooms. Access from Airport to...

We went to Budapest with 5 friends for a weekend. So, we were especially interested in restaurants and bars, rather than the hotel. That's why we didn't mind too much sleeping at 2 in one room the first night. I can however imagine that this would have been otherwise if I were there with my wife... The hotel was overbooked the first night. They told us that there was a problem with the water supply...

I'm only telling this if this would appear to be a persistent problem. We didn't mind too much...

Rooms are clean. Price-quality is great. Location also. So, if you do not see any other comments about overbooking: do not hesitate !

The Carat Hotel is a small hotel and offers OK price/value. The location is top. It is located in the middle of the town in a long street with hip restaurants and coffee places. There is not a large road and if you ask for a room towards the courtyard you have no noise.
The breakfast is good for a 4-star hotel.

I was a bit disappointed of the small room. They are typical for a city hotel (modern, good standard) but you don't want to spend too much time in the room or the hotel.

Overall 4 points:-)

Room Tip: towards the back (darker and quieter - this is what I like better)

This is a nice hotel in an excellent location, quiet and airconditioned (helps in 39 degrees) with good prices and nice rooms. I was not fond of the buffet breakfast but this could be generally a taste of hungarian bread but it is a detail. Overall, staff is friendly and helpful, rooms clean and bed comfortable with nice bathroom and option to cool down after hours of walking around city. The additional value is a safety box in the room that fits 15.7" laptop with no problems!
