“Best hotel I have ever stayed in!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2010

I searched for a hotel in Budapest for ages, I wanted to find a really good one for my English family (my boyfriend's family) and after weeks of research I found this one. It was love at first sight so we chose it. We spent two weeks in Hungary but this was the best hotel we stayed in. I also travelled many times before, stayed in numerous hotels but this one was the best!
First of all the location. It's perfect since it is located in the Castle district. You can pop out of the hotel anytime, in the evening for instance and have a breathtaking view of the whole city! It was also very quiet up there and this was nice after spending all day in the noisy city environment.
Also it didn't feel like I was in a hotel. It felt like a home.
The staff was incredible! Very helpful, thoughtful, extremely polite. They provided an exceptional service that I value very much.
The hotel itself is beautiful, clean, it's courtyard is cute and romantic, very quiet and peaceful. The food in the restaurant was very delicious too and for breakfast we received a huge choice of delicious dishes.
The airconditioning was very crucial since it was so hot when we were there, it helped sleeping very much!
All of us were in bronze rooms which were huge with a kithchenette, room and a spacious bathroom. You will receive an amazing value for your money!
All in all I can only recommend this special and amazing hotel, I'm sure I will send all my friends and family and anyone who is visiting Budapest there!

Beautiful and friendly boutique hotel in the Castle district of Budapest (Buda side). Very spacious rooms, quiet and dark with air con, so we had good sleep. Breakfast buffet was underwhelming, but we had an excellent evening meal in the hotel which was much better than local restaurants. Only minor complaint was lack of hangers in wardrobe, so ask for more!

NB. Lots of mosquitoes in Hungary at present, so bring repellent spray and antihistamines!!

My wife and I are Tour Conductors for group tours, and we came over a couple of days early to scout new cities. I took a flyer on this hotel based on all the reviews from multiple sources. Even then, I was somewhat skeptical because of the great deal I was getting on the rate. The place was as advertised and more.

It truly is an all-suites boutique hotel, in the heart of the Castle District. The room had a large (for European standards) entry room, complete w/Baroque-style furnishings - quite elegant. It had a small kitchenette w/2-burner stovetop, a microwave, dishes and cookware, a mini-bar, and a complimentary bottle of wine. Wired internet was free, and if you don't have an ethernet cord, they will provide one.

The bedroom was nice, the bedding was fine, and the bathroom was very nice. They still have a touch of the Europe of 20 years ago in that there was no shower door or curtain. The tub had a handheld showerhead that worked perfectly, you just need to think ahead a little.

We only got to stay here one night, but we will ALWAYS come back.

Stayed at St George for 4 nights and wish we were still there! Without a doubt the best place we stayed on our European vacation. Staff were fabulous from reception through to the restaurant - nothing was too much trouble. Amazing, enormous, palatial rooms with separate bedroom, fully equipped kitchen and luxurious marble bathroom. Lovely art in the suite too. Location in the Buda castle district was exquisite and could not have been better with amazing views over Budapest. Extremely good value for money. Would stay here again in a heart beat. Do not understand why it is not rated number 1 in Budapest!

Dear "Christchurch" customers from New Zeeland,

Thank you very much for your stay, and for your feedback after your stay. We are very sorry, that you had this unpleasant story with smoke and fumes in the courtyard. Since your feedback we have changed the regulation of staff's smoking. So now the staff may smoke only in a determinated room in the staff's part of the building. As the courtyard is also a part of the guest's service area, it is not allowed to the staff smoke in the guest's service area. I hope it will help us develop our service level. Thank you again.
Concerning of the other complain of yours: In Hungary the official currency is hungarian forint, as Hungary is not a member of the EURO zone countries. We publish our rates just for orientation in EURO, to help our customers comparing rates. We may take EURO, or US dollar only in case, if our customers don't have hungarian currency.
I am very happy, that althought this above mentioned things you enjoyed your stay, and we may hopfuly welcome you again in the near future in our residence as well.

We have never stayed at a more grander place. Our eyes dropped as we entered the hallways and finally viewed our spectacular suite. I would go back in one minute if 1) the employees did not smoke in the courtyard as the fumes go right into your room and 2)there was more clarity around buying a tourist package as ours was quoted in Euros but on arrival we were told they needed local currency for ex-hotel events.

Stayed four nights at this very pleasant boutique hotel in the Buda Castle Area of Budapest. Huge suite style rooms in this recently refurbished 18th Century Inn, furnished in traditional empire style with no expense spared. Just 24 Suites come with sitting room, kitchenette marble bathroom and comfortable beds, with most rooms opening onto an attractive internal court yard. Restaurant well up to standard, and interesting food and quality cooking in Budapest was one of the pleasant surprises of the trip. St George staff were exceptionally helpful with bookings, advice and very friendly service. Communications down to the main city and over to the Pest side of the Danube could not have been easier with a shuttle bus running every ten minutes with several stops just a short distance from the hotel. Highly recommended - just been listed in the Sunday Times Hot 100 Europe's best Hotels - see website www.stgeorgehotel.hu and book a package through British Airways or Expedia for the best deal.
