“Excellent Value for Money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

We arrived having booked this hotel 20 mins earlier after our previous booking at another place fell through. Even though we'd only just booked it, our room was already prepared for my kids to stay in and the whole experience from this point onwards was excellent. The staff were always very helpful, and went out of their way to help my kids out. The view from the room was great, and the room itself was really clean and well equiped. Free wi-fi was a great addition as was the air-con (not a given in Budapest). The breakfast was exceptionally good and well worth the small amount extra on the room booking.

Overall, we had a really enjoyable stay at a great hotel in a great location for families (Margarit Island is walking distance).

I went to Budapest to spend the weekend with my son who was convalescing after surgery. The hotel is spectacular. It has the most magnificent view. It is quiet. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel to any visitor to Budapest. Kudos to the Novotel Danube.

Loved this hotel. We paid extra on arrival for a Danube View Room - well worth it as we had floodlit view of the Parliament building at night. We took our 10 year old. Room was good size, very clean and comfortable. We dined in the restaurant which was good value and food was good - really lovely Hungarian wines, beautiful view of Danube from Dining Room. Walked everywhere as all easily reached but if needed Metro Station nearby. Staff were great and couldn't do enough for us - Thank you Novotel Budapest Danube

Room Tip: Pay for the Danube View, we thought it was worth it.

The perfect place for a few days in the Hungarian capital What I like best is the view of the Parliament from the breakfast table and at night the lights on and around the River Danube. Underground station nearby - easy transport. Will come back!

Room Tip: For a little extra money you can get a room with a view on the Parliament.

Having stayed in some excellent Novotel hotels in recent years we booked for a three night stay in Budapest following a weekend on the outskirts of the city. This hotel maintains the reputation we look for in clean comfortable and well positioned hotels. Our experience of city breaks is that when you are out sightseeing all day, generally the requirements are a good shower, comfortable bed, clean room and good choice of breakfast to set up for the day.

The Novotel brand has proved consistent for us in this respect and Budapest Danube was no exception.
Rooms compact and clean, separate loo and shower, wifi, MP3 connection for music. I chose not to pay extra for a room with a river view but these are available.

Great view over the Danube to the Parliament buildings while enjoying breakfast. Great selection to suit all tastes especially the fruit salads and breads/pastries. Didn't try the hot meals. Pretty standard fare we are used to from other Novotel stays.

Friendly staff who spoke good English and assisted with luggage storage after check out and taxi hire

As an apple user, loved the iMac facility

Fantastic location only a couple of hundred metres from Batthany ter. Access here to Metro, Tram, HEV and bus. One stop on Metro to Kossuth ter and heart of Parliament and City. Margarite Bridge and Chain Bridge easily accessible with pleasant riverside stroll - just watch out for speeding cyclists who share the path!

Relatively quiet location. Our room ( at rear) view of Buda Hills but no traffic or city noise. Air con worked fine and tea and coffees facilities in room. No problem when we asked for extra tea and milk.

Cannot be any more positive about this hotel for a city break. It ticked all the right boxes for us.

I cannot think of anywhere else that offers the great views in the heart of the city by the river, at the room rate we paid. Excellent value.

Rooms very really small. The air conditioning was not working properly in some of the rooms. Breakfast was OK, not spectacular, but with nice breads, jams, fruits. We have some lunchs included and the meals were tasty, buffet style. However coffee was not complimentary.
Bring your own electrical adapter or you will pay more than it is worth.
The view is spectacular, but you have a long walk to downtown or need to take the metro.
