“great choice for us”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

We would definitly go back to this hotel if we go back to Budapest, heres why:
Price - great value. We paid 75 pounds a night for 3 night bed and breakfast in what they called a superior room. The rooms were comfortable size, not massive, clean with a nice bed and bathroom.
location - great in our opinion. I should point out for people who like to be in the middle of the action that this is on the quieter, less touristy Buda side and the entrance is not the prettiest outlook, however we loved it because:
it had perfect uninterrupted views of the parliment building from accross the Danube.
it was less than 10 mins from the chain brideg and the magrit island bridge
it was less than 5 mins from an underground, tram, and hop-on-hop-off bus/ferry stops.
service was friendly and efficient
breakfast was ok, lots of choice, but not geared to the UK.
for a bonus it was close to a restaurant that we loved, and some nice architecture.
all in all, i'm sure there will be some better hotels but this was a great all-rounder choice for out budget.

other tips:
We loved the Belgian brasserie Henri 5 mins down the road, nice food and belgian beers in a cool cellar setting.I would reccomend checking it out if you are close

We reccomend the hop-on hop-off red double decker service - there were audio commentory in lots of languages, and they covered all the parts of budapest so you can just stop on for the whole loop to get a great first view of the city. There is a stop just 2 mins outside the hotel, plus they are really good value compared to other cities.

The underground - GET YOUR TICKET STAMPED before you ride, its not immediately obvious for a first timer, but you may get stopped and fined on the spot if you dont!

Room Tip: If you can get one facing the parliment building you will have perfect views, if you dont get one th...

Hotel close to (5 min. walk) to bus/metro/tram station. Even the ferry stops at this station.
Perfect location and quiet. A beautiful walk to Pest (25 min). Breakfast is great (lots of choice), everyone in the hotel is very helpful and friendly.
Superior room with separate toilet. Very clean.
We enjoyed very much our stay in Budapest, which by the way is a beautiful city.
When we go back we will certainly stay at this Novotel.

Room Tip: Superior room is spacious with separate toilet. For a room with a view on the parlement you must pay...

We stayed in a Superior Double Room. This included a double bed and a double sofa bed for the kids. However most of the time the kids were staying with relatives so did not use the room much. This worked out well as the room was too small to comfortably fit a family of four. Of course where budgets are tight this is still an option. The room is modern clean and compact. Storage space is limited due to the compact nature of the room. The only minor thing I can think of that could be improved is a more modern TV that accepts HDMI input.

The WiFi was good - free and worked throughout the hotel.

The breakfast was included and was good the first couple of times but never changed so we got bored of it after a few days.

The staff were helpful.

The gym was small but presumably fine (we didn't use it). There was a sauna.

The location of the hotel was fantastic. A 10-15 minutes walk to Margaret Bridge, Mamut and Bimbo Ut. And it's right on the river across from the Parliament - fantastic view.

My friend and i spent 4 nights at the Novotel Danube on our first trip to Budapest. We could not fault anything! The room we had was perfect for our needs, clean, spacious and comfortable. Tea/coffee facillities were provided and much appreciated especially after a long days travelling. Toiletries provided and really comfortable beds with extra pillows should they be needed. The staff were very attentive, extremely helpful and friendly and spoke very good english. Breakfast was lovely, with views of the Danube, while we ate a very satisfying breakfast, which set us up for the day ahead. With a refreshing stroll of aprox 15minutes,we were at the city centre. Thank you very much,Novotel Danube, for a thoroughly enjoyable stay, we would definitely love to stay here again!!

I found this hotel to be perfect for my needs during my stay in Budapest. This time the purpose of my visit to this wonderful city was dental services and this hotel was located just 400m from the dental clinic so just perfect. The location of the hotel is great in general as it is located at the banks of the river Danube and with the view of the Parliament just across the river. The proximity of the metro station just around the block(Battany ter) is convenient and gives you access to the rest of the city in a few minutes. Great breakfast buffet that was a good start of the day. Nice and clean hotel with friendly and professional staff. A plesant experience.

Wonderful view on the parliament but à bit far from the city center. Room as usuel, perfect for a family, with a lot of french TV programs. Breakfast always excellent with a lot of things to eat.
Prices at the bar higher than everywhere in the city, but still OK. People at the helpdesk are very efficient and serviceable.
I would recommend this hotel which is a very good ratio service / price.

Room Tip: Of course on the river sied but more expensive !
