“Great small hotel in Budapest”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

Our group had booked 7 rooms a few months before our arrival at Budapest. We booked through the Hotel.com, because the website had better rate than the group rates offered by the hotel.
We arrived at the hotel before 8am, and the hotel receptionist was already wide awake and greeted us with a great smile and a hello; in good English. The hotel was located in a quiet side street; not that easy to find the first time, but the driver had no problem taking us there. We found later that it was not too far a walk to some of the tourist sights. It was a rather compact hotel, and decorated in a simple morden design, Very clean and quiet. They did not have rooms ready for us at the time, but they were more than happy to store our luggage, so we can do some sight seeing. We got back at about 6pm, and the rooms were all ready for us. Our room was very good size, and looked like it has been refurbished in the last couple years or so. The room was a minimalist design with simple morden European furnishing. The bath room was nice and wide, but designed for the handicapped. However, we being non-handicapped, found it to be a little inconvenient using the higher toilet. Otherwise it was a nice comfortable room. The desk clerk was willing to change the room for us, but we just didn't bother.
We booked the rooms with Breakfast , which was great. It was a selfserve buffet. They had nice cafe styled seating. The food was the usual hot and cold stuff and eggs, and they even had Champagne and wine, plus all the coffee/tea you can drink. Lots of fruits and great bread and pastries.
I would certainly recommend this to our friends.

Room Tip: Choose rooms on a higher level or away from the road. The cobble stoned road surfaces may get a bit...

This hotel was one of the best I have stayed in. I booked it as a surprise weekend away for my boyfriend and the staff were so helpful in organising things before our arrival. They arranged for champagne and truffles on arrival, booked a restaurant for an evening meal, organised a bottle of wine to be sent to the room on the second night, booked taxi transfer to the airport and were generally useful in providing tips and directions on where to go. Special thanks to Eva, Adele and Nora who were all prompt and polite in replying to my emails and providing service with a smile.
The breakfast is delicious- hot english, cold continental as well as breads, yoghurts, fruits and freshly squeezed juices. Ok, so you don't get tea and coffee making facilities in the room but it's not exactly the end of the world to get the lift down to the bar and make yourself a fresh one from the machine!
Location wise, it's right round the corner from restaurants, bars and shops so if you don't mind a bit of a stroll you can easily explore the whole city on foot. We bought a 24hr travelcard for one of the days which I would definitely recommend- either the 24hr or the 72hr depending on your length of stay. Very cheap and ideal fo hopping on and off throughout the day.
The hotel itself is modern, with a jacuzzi pool and sauna in the basement for guest use. The bathroom doors which have been mentioned occasionally in previous reviews, are a bit odd in that they don't shut flush to the frame, and have a 1/2 inch gap around the edges but as long as you're not shy with who you're sharing with that's no biggy!
We had one of the best rooms (110) which I believe is one of only two rooms in the hotel to have a balcony. This was arranged again by Eva when I explained that we were visiting to celebrate our three year anniversary.
If you are going to Budapest, book this hotel and you will not be disappointed! :)

Room Tip: #110 has a balcony.

This hotel is in a great location and a short walk to most places. The room (#312) was small in my opinion, but served it's purpose for sleeping and cleaning up. The bed and pillows were definitely not good; the bed was hard and the pillows were extremely thin. Luckily I brought my own pillow but still had a bad night's sleep the three nights I was there due to the bed being uncomfortable. It also did not help that I could hear everything going on in the room next to me and the people walking above me at 2am in the morning. I find this to be a very common problem everywhere I have stayed in Europe due to them having hard floors (no carpet) in the rooms but with no insulation between the floors. So if you are a light sleeper like me, then I highly suggest reserving a room on the top floor or else chance hearing people walk above you. I also had an issue with the internet connection; seems it really dropped in bandwidth when more than a few people were online and I got kicked off a few times because of that. Other than that, the hotel serves it's purpose if you plan on being out of the room most of the day and really just want an affordable place to sleep and shower.

This hotel is a gem. It's located in central Budapest, near the Parliament and the Danube. The rooms are - by any standard - excellent - clean, modern and big. The service is also excellent. As for the free water, coffee and peanuts in the bar - well that was just the icing on the cake - as was the price - a mere 79 euros. Add to this an very good breakfast, and you have the complete package.

Dear „md5858”,
thank you very much for recommending our Hotel Palament to the traveller community of Tripadvisor! I am pleased to read that you liked the style and decor of our House and you have been satisfied with our breakfast offer and further services! I do agree with your suggestion for „Budapest-visitors” not to miss one of the famous thermal bathes in town.

We had a good 3-night stay at this hotel. It is quiet, clean, with a nice balcony view in a nice neighborhood--up to Best Western standards. The breakfast was ample and well presented. The kitchen staff and Eva at the front desk provided great hospitality.

The location of the hotel allowed us to take the Metro with baggage from the airport to a nearby station and later the Metro to the train station from the Parliament station--each station about four blocks away from the hotel. It was also within a few blocks of several nice restaurants like Borkonyha Winekitchen, Let Szerecsen k, and Trattoria Pomo Doro.

What a wonderful stay! Where do I begin? Spacious room, good breakfast, helpful and courteous staff (always smiling). I have been a member of the best western chain for a long time. This is so far the best value for the money I paid.

The Hotel is on the Pest side of the city, accessible by metro from west railway station or parliament station. Both about the same distance, 5-7 minutes walk. There some also good restaurants nearby (walking distance), like "Cat in a Sack" or "Cafe Bouchon", and a 24-hours convenience store just across the main street. And tons of food joints on the way to the west railway station.

From the hotel you can walk to see the Parliament building and then along the Danube river visit the Jewish Victim Shoes Memorial, Chain Bridge, and across the bridge all the way to the Buda Castle.
