“Great value, great service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2009

We stayed here for 6 nights. Host Gabor was exremely attentive even lending us a cable for our computer so we could access ADSL. The apartment is very well presented and equipped and is bright airy and roomy. It is located just a short walk from a restaurant/cafe strip and walking distance to many of Budapest's attractions. At about 40 euros per night we doubt you will find better value anywhere. Only downside is that the building it is located in is rather old and run down but don't be put off by external appearances as once inside the apartment this doesnt matter at all. Oh and the bakery next door is fabulous as well.

I can recommend Kalvin Apartments with confidence. I stayed in Kalvin Apartments with my husband for 5 nights. Our room was really big eonugh for two of us, with a kitchen which has everything we need, and furniture to keep clothes. There is even an ironing board and an iron, so we never suffered for wrinkles on our clothes. Everywere is truely spotless, and we enjoyed every single second staying in the room. Although the location is on a relatively big street, the window is double and it completely blocks noise from outside and is very quiet inside. We brought our laptop, and we had the internet access in the room. It is perfectly convenient to go anywhere, and if we will visit Budapest again, there is only one place to stay, Kalvin Apartment.
Last but not least, I would like to thank the owner who helped us while we were there. Thanks to him we had a great time in Budapest.

Our room at Kalvin Studios was a revelation!

The studio apartment is beautifully refurbished in a contemporary style. There is an en-suite shower and wash room, plus a separate toilet. In the living area is a small kitchen area with everything you could possibly need for catering "at home", a comfortable double bed, colour TV and lots of storage space.

It is located quite centrally in Pest on the fourth floor of a rather drab-looking old building near Kalvin Square. The helpful owner is on hand every day to provide information and deal with any queries you might have.

We found it easy to walk to all the major attractions in the city and there is a good selection of bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the aparment.

If you're planning to spend a few days in Budapest, you won't go far wrong with this place, and it's very good value, too!!!

Everything you need, a fully refurbed and modernised apartment within a lovely old traditional building with tiled walls and antique lift.

Zsolt looked after us very well and was there when we needed him but we were left to our own devices for most part, which we like. Food and drink was cheap if you went off the main roads, and this was local to all amenities.

Don't forget to visit the indoor market just round the corner, which is bursting with produce, goods, spices, etc, and is fascinating.... Thoroughly recommended.

Very centrally located, very quiet (due to excellent new windows), absolutely everything provided (ample cooking equipment, toaster, coffee machine, shoe shine and ironing equipment, rack to dry clothes, internet connection (WLAN but bring a cable for better reception), TV - everything you might need during a shorter or longer stay is provided. It is easy to reach the apartment from the airport: take bus No. 200 at the airport, change at the final station into the metro and go until Kalvin Ter. From there, it is only a few hundred metres walk. Behind the flats is a road with many restaurants and there are 2 shops close by which are open until 11 p.m. and 24 hrs.

Had no problems finding this place. The owner is quiet, but really nice. He even did a load of washing for us! The location is excellent, near the metro, around the corner from shops, bars and restaurants and easy walking distance from the markets and the danube. The apartment itself was great, really clean, well renovated and had everything we needed. We got the room with AC and the place was very comfortable. The price for what you get is excellent. The frontage isnt the nicest, but it gives a good feel for what its like to be a local. Did see an elderly neighbour walking around in his jocks one day, but it was a great laugh for us! If you want a hotel with all the convenience of room service etc this isnt for you. If you are after an excellent, great value, really original place to stay, then this is the one for you!

What a wonderful experience Kalvin Apartments was. The lead up to the place initially makes you wonder whether you have chosen right but once you get there and experience the place and the amazing hospitality and service provided, you needn't worry anymore. We had withdrawl symptoms after leaving Kalvin altho we just stayed there 4 nights. The apartment is beautifully maintained and very conveniently located. The staff are wonderful. We ran into a small problem - no fault of the apartments but the local municipal corporation was doing some repair work on the main gas line so hot water service was impacted for a couple of days. Altho we were informed of this by the staff in advance and were not overly worried about it, we came back one evening to find a note of apology and a lovely bottle of Hungarian dessert wine waiting for us from the staff. Would defintely stay here again and recommend it for anyone looking to have a hassle free stay in Budapest.
