“Good location and buy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2012

Outside does not reflect its interior. Inside is renovated and clean. Good breakfast. Helpful staff but straight-faced. Metro station and commercial boulevard very close. Also close to Danube river. Budapest is a must place to visit.

We were a bit confused at the entrance - I was glad I remembered a Tripadvisor reviewer who explained how to access the hotel from the street, press the door entry button at two different doors then up a few stairs to the lift. Great location for the main shopping street, the river and the bridges. Staff were very good indeed, we worried about not speaking any Hungarian but all the reception staff spoke excellent English. A nice touch was they asked us when we were going out if we had any questions or wanted to know where anywhere was. Breakfast was good continental farre, often replenished and seved with speed and courtesy. Rooms, whilst a bit small, were warm (my visit was in December), spotlessly clean with a good bathroom - great shower and traffic noise not too bad. Now if the police could only silence their siriens after midnight and before 7am it would have been perfect.

Room Tip: Ask for a large double room.

OK, so the entrance is tricky the first time around and so is the fantasticly old elevator but once all is mastered, the rest is fine. After all, it doesn't profess to be the Hilton. Signs on the street level are more than adequate to find the hotel entrance. After finding the code number on the list by the street door and again just inside, it's up a couple of steps to the very antique elevator which has it's quirks as well. Don't touch the inner wooden doors to get out till it has fully stopped or you are trapped. Anyway, the hotel/pension itself is just fine--great guy at the desk who seems to be there morning to night. Comfortable room with double windows so no noise from the busy street below. Simple bathroom with shower and wc--only small soaps, no shampoo or lotion. Breakfast was also simple with a nice woman keeping the buffet supplied..
The best part was the location for walking to the main part of town, the river or the central market as well as the bus across the street (purchase tickets at a newsstand) to the central rail station. We were certainly satisfied with this choice feeling we were really in the old world of Budapest.

The Leo Panzio hotel is centrally located, only 2 minutes walking from the main Vaci street.

In front of the hotel you have a metro station + a supermarket ('Match') that is open 24/7.

There are a lot of signs directing to the hotel on the outside. The fact that you need to pass 2 doors with a code that you receive from the hotel makes it really safe & secure.

The room was very clean, the bed was extremely comfortable!

The breakfast was good (fruits, some vegetables, cornflake, juice, but no eggs).

And the price was very good (6 Euros less than 'booking.com' if you order directly through the hotel's site).

The window is thick enough to block the noise from the street.

I will definitely come back to this hotel, next time in Budapest!

Room Tip: Choose room 5/8/10 if you can, since you will get a small balcony.

You are wondering if you really are right when you enter through the door and second door (both with buzzer locks) and find yourself in a very worn down (old and charming -yes) hallway entrance and an elevator from 1900 cold and then have to walk on a outside walkway ower a rough inner yard - finally you are inside the hotels premises and it looks ok , but when inside the room - the noice from the street and size of the room?
No way that this could get an 9,6 on booking.com from me anyway.
Still ok but really this website has done a fraud on pictures and reviews...

Hi all, i will start from the negatives this time:) a bit pricey, 160e for 2 nights, and not wireless internet in all the rooms. We had room no 14 that is exactly opposite the reception and the internet was working perfectly. Time for the good words: in the center of budapest, next to the metro station, next to vaci street, next to danube, what else could you ask? Very good noise isolation, nice view from the window, it makes you feel you are a part of the city. The stuff is out of logic friendly, breakfast is top, very clean room.

I was intrigued by an earlier review about “not judging a book by its cover” and had reservations as I entered the main door and along the balcony. Thankfully on entering the hotel, I found it well furnished, very welcoming and the staff couldn’t do enough to help. The real bonus came when I sank into the bed at night – it had to be the comfiest I’ve encountered in all my travels across Europe – and the shower had enough power to wake me in the morning.

The breakfast selection was a little limited in choice but there was plenty available and the location is perfect for the business district and tourists.

Special note should go to the Borsso Bistro a short walk from the hotel – the standard and choice available is far ahead of the catering available in the vicinity and well worth a visit.
